I need to replace the front brake system on my 400ex and was just wondering if anyone has put 450r brakes on their 400ex. I know Ill need 450r spindles, hubs, calipers, and i'd prob get braided lines while i was at it...... but is there anything else that i've overlooked?

Also, I havent been able to find if stock 400ex front rims will clear 450 calipers. Any insight there?

Oh yea and I guess I should probably ask if the 450 brakes are that much better than the 400's. I'd hate to go through all this and then not even notice a difference.

Thanks all.

just got mine on yesterday, yes 400 rims clear em, if you get the 06 and up 450 spindles then you dont need to get all the other stuff, just the spindles and brakes, but if you get 05 and down you will need hubs and all that junk. Trust me i just put mine on with the 06 spindles, no problem at all. Went on as if they were 400 spindles. And they work about the same unless you was to get a 450 master cylinder.

You'll need:

06-up R Spindles
04-up Calipers

I would recommend getting the R master cylinder to take full advantage of the dual piston calipers.

The braking difference is night and day, a must do mod to any EX IMO.

Awesome. Thanks guys.

I'm pretty sure I found a good set of '05 450 brakes with braided lines and master cylinder on here, so now I've just got to find some '06+ spindles...
