looking for opinions? what color frame/plastic combo should I go with? I was thinking white frame and swingarm with chrome a-arms stem and subframe and new red fullbore plastic and solid black hipers. Also where is the best place to get some stuff re chromed and does cv4 make red hoses for the 250r?

personally im not feeling the red plastics on a white frame. Personally I dont like red plastics at all. Why not try something a little different than that?

I was about to say something similar, silver plastic with blue frame, but instead of YZ blue, I was thinking a lighter (sky?) blue metal flake to go along with the silver. To me, flat and metallic colors don't go together.

custom axis cans??? thats a pretty nice bike! cant wait to c it finished!!!

dustinshuler
12-06-2008, 09:48 AM
not for sure, but I think this one was built before custom axis really got going and if memory serves me right these were fox shocks that wayne from pep redone. It will have newer true axis shocks on it anyway.

the frame is at the powdercoater and I have new fullbore plastic on the way. I have brand new still in box t-pin spindles for it. new hipers w/maxxis tires, new sparks silencer, new nerfs and bumpers, its getting all new bearings and bushings, the frame had no cracks but the swingarm did have one that is being repaired, new cv4 hoses, some new billet parts also, some new chrome stuff, lots of polishing and a new seat cover. It will not be as sharp prob as masters because its not all going to be new but I think it will look pretty good thanks to masterltr450 and 312rs inspiration.

sorry your not ''impressed'',
bad start????
not real sure what parts your talking about other than the radiator mount and the engine headstay. The rad mount was just on there to hold the rad in place for now since I have chrome ones coming. The headstay in case you dont know is a leager and they came zink plated and its not dirty. As far as the stripped threads on the head stay go,they were stripped when I got it and you cant find a headstay like that anymore and other than helicoil I did not know how else to fix it and its hidden anyway.

Also I stated early in this thread that this was not going to be as great of build as others on the site.

so NO I dont want to START over.

thanks master for putting up the pic, I know I said I had Hipers but they make the bike way to narrow for mx so Im thinking about just powdercoating my douglas beadlocks and putting new tires on if I can sell my Hipers who knows? The color is silver hammertone. it is the color that Leager used on his A-arms and swing-arms years ago. yea its different I just wanted it to not be the same as everyone elses. But Ive never seen many 250rs that were ugly.

These days the pros don't run what they think is the best, they run whatever tire manufacturer pays the most. Maybe the only pro not to have a tire sponsor in 2008, Harold Goodman truly had the opportunity to run whatever tire setup he thought would be the best for the track he was racing at. Anybody notice what he ran in almost every moto?

What condition is your chrome in? I just had mine chromed and rebuilt by Leager last spring.

Still waiting on rear plastic, graves seat cover and rear brake line from galfer.Still have some more polishing to do. No one has shown any interest in my Hipers so Im still up in the air about using them, it will just be a little narrow. So maybee if anyone has some plus 4 leager arms to trade that might be an option. Lastly I am in need of a clear gas tank. I just dont like having the red with a chrome fullbore cover.Which will be for sale if I get a clear one. The tank is great not faded or scuffed by a cover because I just now put the cover on.

The chrome is a 9 out of 10. maybee when I take the plastic and tank off to do some more polishing I can take some pics of it. Just under the stem clamp there are a couple small dents I think its where someone had a stabalizer mounted or it has been straghtend there, but it appears to be very straght.

I agree about the sparks set up. I built this bike about a year ago and sold it if you look back on the for sale threads. The guy I sold it to is getting in to sxs racing and I traded him some elka rhino shocks and some other stuff back for it. When I bought the bike from a friend in KY I knew it was one of Jerimiah Jones old Leagers and the cylinder was fresh and piston in box I called Sparks to order O-rings for the head and Scott at Sparks told me there were only like 3 of the 330 pv's ever made. Im glad to have it back.

This particular cylinder is a 330 that was ported by Roger Iwerks of Pro Works racing. I know its not a big name port job but in the NC area he was the sh*t for a long time and this thing really hauls. I do have a Curtis Sparks 330 PV which I am told by Curtis is very rare.Since the build turned out so well (in my opinion) I may put the motor and big radiator on it just so it would be as awesome as possible.

i tried to have him do my 380 pv but he told me he didn't want to do 2-strokes any more they take to long and there isn't enough demand for them. that sucks i have a non pv 330 of his that i can out run most of the best built 4-strokes with even the 488,502.525,575 big bore and stroker motors it would have been nice to have him build a bigger motor. i flattrac and power IS half the battle

Hey man, My shocks were made for Charlie Shepard also from Cali by Mike when he was at Fox. Ken Cornwell from Rocky Ridge Racing got it from him and had them redone by Wayne and then sold it to my friend in NC in 96 so I dont really know much about the valving but they are pretty awesome though. I had a real nice pair of axis is why I changed them out.How long have you had that leager of yours? Did you used to race the nationals? Where in ky are you?
