Some things 06 yfz owners should know. At the point were the sprocket attaches to the axle it seems that most if not all 06 yfz splines are all stripped down. Mine are completly wrecked. I'm not going to worry about this though. It seems that yamaha doesnt think it a safety hazard. I've been riding mine for 400 hours + on the stripped splines and it still runs like it did when I got it.

Also behind the starter idler gear there is two bolts that are extremely loose. I did check the bolts today and they were as loose as they could get before touching the gear. This is some things I would consider checking out 06 yfz 450 owners. If you do get around to tighting them go to 85 in/lb of torque. Hoped this helped some.
pic of starter idler gear....not that hard to take the gear out people just slides out nothing attaches it. Dont be affraid to attempt the gear fix yourself. All you have to do is remove two 8mm bolts and your basically done. Talk to me if you have any questions.

are you sure about 85 ft/lbs because that would definately strip the case or even break the bolt off before you even get to that number, maybe you meant to say 10-12 ft/lbs. Also on those two bolts alittle bit of blue treadlocker and titened to specs will prevent it from happening again.

Sorry I meant to say 85 in/lb. I will edit the original post.

didn't want any one to try to tighten it that high and run into pain in the rear to fix it, nothing against you we all make mistakes

both of these problems are pretty old news
the axle thing is not a big deal happened to most
the 2 bolts behind the idler gear was a factory issue it seems
everyone with the allen key heads loosened up i checked mine and they were hex heads and have never had a prob. dont know
why this is but from what ive read everyone with hex heads had no problems. do a search on these topics and you will find a ton of info
