This may seem like a dumb question to some of you but i was wondering if you buy new handlebars, do you have to move your key. I have heard that you have to cut a circular hole in your plastic from a friend.

Some times with new bars you do depending on what you get. If you go with a fatbar or twinwall from Renthal, pro taper etc.. You will probably have to get new barclamps.....Some kits come with the location for the key and neutral light, i drilled a second hole for my reverse light as well....So the answer i guess is yes you may have to ......also depends on the year of your quad also.

i had fat bars and all you have to do it shave the cut out on the plastic piece, to fit the fat bars.

Ryan,
Remember if you get new bars you will have to probably get new bar clamps ( Unless you go with 7/8" bars). Most of the risers will add about 2 inches to bar height.....Which for me....was great as it definitely helps on your neck and back. just something to keep in mind.

The ones i just put on are the Renthal Twinwall /Carmichael bend....So much better than stock...price is exactly what 400ex said$170.00 from motosport.com.

Alright thanks, I need a diff setup my neck gets stiff after riding for a few hours. Is switching the dash thingy a breeze?

Real simple....the plastic cover has enough room to do 1 of 2 things...put the extra hole for the reverse light or run an extra hole for your vent tube...i ran the revers light setup and neutral light and bought an aftermarket gas cap with the shorty vent tube. Took about 1 1/2 hours to make it look perfect. You wont be dissapointed because my neck was killing me and i was concerned about the rise height butit was well worth it....

I just bought the same setup you have racerdan.. Did you get washers for your bolts or do you not need them?

I have the same clamp and I didn't get washers. You shouldn't need any.

Nope didnt need em suicide.....Wait til you see the difference with the new bars....

I just got done putting them on in the freezing cold. I have to say they look 100x better than stock bars. Its a good thing I bent mine to hell or I'd still be lost running stockers. Its a tight fit fitting everything back on the bars though.

what grips are you running with them racerdan? I bought some cheap scotts put they feel like I'm actually holding onto metal.

I agree suicide....I had a b***H of a time getting everything on the bars again....i had to remove my handguards and leave them off for now and i will probably add new lines to make sure the clearance is good....
So far the stock brake lines are ok but they are close. BUT upside is comfort and i read on hear so much about comfort on stock bars....I replaced mine after about 6 rides and saw immediate comfort on riding.....
I wish honda would do what they did on the MX side and make these stock on the ATV line. I rode my bro's crf450 and my decision was made up right then and there.....

12-06-2008, 11:54 AM
yeah my brake lines had no problem with clearance. Just with the throttle and front brake lever its a very tight fit. My thumb throttle hits my finger with it wide open. Who knows I might invest in a twist-throttle down the road and that would solve the problem.

scott makes probally the worst grips ever. I have Oury right now and they great its like a dampener say goodbye to blisters these grips might be te best out there

i agree....the twist throttle crossed my mind also....I am definitely looking into extending the brake cables in the spring to differnet lines....

I hear ya dan. In the future I'll run some braided lines when I feel like forking out the money for +2 arms.

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa283/braaup/m2c.gif Get Pro Taper Pillow Grips! The best I have ever had, last real long, look real good, feel real good, very comfy, and you get real nice grip too! Also, you can choose the end 'cap' color to match! There by far my favorite, and from now on, I will not ever use another.

a few guys i know tried the pillow grips and they said there the worst grips they have ever used they cut up there hands bad. My favorite are Scott Hurricane grips they cost like 7 bucks and work great.

So you have to change all clamps if you get 1 1/8 bar?

racerdan24
12-11-2008, 07:31 PM
Nope, Just the bar clamp...The bar goes from 1 1/8 and then tapers down to 7/8
