Anybody running high compression, like a true 12 to 1 je or wiseco compression piston?I know these motors run hotter with this and may need race gas but im ol'skool, compression is where you make your power. The 400ex doesnt have the luxury of a 5 valve head or huge valves like the 4fiddys so i need to make every power stroke count.i heard(saw) some people say more low end with a wiseco 11to1 which isnt a true 11 to 1 but what about the 12to1 and up compression ratios? Please i already know about the head gasket issues and more load on the bottomend with high compression but it'll still be more reliable than my buddys 450er thats always eating battaries..lol Anybody running this set up with a 416 or 426 or even stock size bore?

I had a 12.5:1 416 with a stage 2 hotcam on 110 octane and it ran great. It had a little more low end than when I had 11:1. Never had any problems.

yeah thats what im leaning towards..i like the torquey stock 400ex powerband but i want to enhance it a bit,no it'll never be a 450r beater(got my 250r for that) but i just want that low end grunt amplified a bit.I may or not do the 440 kit,im still on the fence though:confused:

Most 416s will hang with 440's depending on whats done. I say go for the 416 and then go up from there later on if you need to.

One word 426. I regret doing the 440 in mine.
