i run 14/38 on my 01,it helps it picks up 2nd gear faster for the hill climbs,15t is the stock size front for the 99 to 04 i believe

I don't have a 05' but I run 13/36. Accelerates like a beast.

they are geared differently from a 15t 99-04 and a 14t 05-present, if you want more power, then go for a 13 front and maybe a bigger rear...stock is 39t, it is depending on how much you want to spend

I run 13/39 for trails with a stock engine and like it.

i have an 06 and i purchased a JT 13t for the front of mine. still debating on what size i want for the rear. i want more bottom end. what do you guys think? or should i just get a new stock 39 rear and chain? i havent put on the front yet.

I just switched to a 13/39 Renthal and has some serious snap now with stock motor...A little more shifting but well worth the bottom end i wanted.

Yes...you are correct on the 13 front....change the chain while your at it...then you know everything is new and changed at the same time...just my .02

Yup. Pretty solid info on this thread. I have an '06 and I run 13/39 for sand and trails and will never go back. 1st gear is very short and I lost a bit off the top end speed but I don't race. She'll climb almost any dune I point her at though.

my quad has the recall thing where first gear jumps out so i have to start out on 2nd gear. so whats a good gearing setup until i get it fixed? like i said i got a 13t for the front but havent put it on yet. i was thinking a 13/40-42? i want more pep and no 1st isnt helping lol

my 05 had a recall something like you said guess it can go in reverse if that happens, takes a few days to get part in plus you get a free oil change cause they have to take the side case off. i'd take it in because they said it will mess up your trans

the guy i bought mine from wrecked it and where the vin is was all messed up so it shows no vin. the honda dealer wont mess with it unless it has a vin. ill have to work on it myself.
