Ok, Next season I plan on racing motocross at the local Dist 34 tracks, walden, diamondback and south woods

I definetly need a suspension upgrade before then. I plan on buying 400EX a-arms and tie rods for a definate, but I am not sure what shocks I want to use.
I could use stock 400EX shocks, and buy a bolt on mount from Toby300EX, I figure that will cost me like $150 maybe more for the mount and shocks.
My second option is used works shocks. My cousin has a set of used(killed) works shocks off a 250X that he will give me. Right now they bottom out very easily and defiently need a rebuild. I figure I could get them rebuilt and valved correct for 400EX a-arms, but Im not sure how much that will cost me.

Which sounds like a better idea? The 400EX shocks with bolt on mount, or the Works? Which do you think will be cheaper? Is price more important than performance? Any advice is appreciated, thanx

id have to say go for the works, they are better than stock.
then have them rebuilt for ur weight and riding style.
Oh and by teh way, see you there next year. Ill be the 400ex that is alwys crashin and goin too big.

I would get the works. That is what I am doing. They will be better than 400ex shocks and can be set up for your riding style any time you want. Just think, if you got the 400ex shocks, what will you do once you start bottoming them out. Get them rebuilt?

if i were you i would go with the 400ex a-arms and shocks, cause if you ever do begin to bottom the 400ex shocks out, u can always buy works 400ex shocks, or elkas if you wanted. But trust me on this one, if you are using the stock 400ex shocks, it will be very hard to bottom them out

Bump

Lrd, how old are you? I heard that the AMA changed the rules to allow 14 year olds to race up to 300cc 4-strokes, I dunno if its true or not though, or if it applies to you
