can 87 oct gas burn a piston?

Brought a parts motor owner said a friend ran low oct. gas in it. Piston looks like someone held a tourch to one spot. I think it was on pipe side. will 87 gas do this ?Motor has big bore piston and was ported by Time Bomb Racing.Anybody heard of Time Bomb?

It depends on the compression, but yes it can happen.

The big bore is a time bomb...:D :D
