raptor 700' are for old fat guys.....they replace skill with displacement. I honestly can't stand yamaha...they seem to always want to cut corners

true that STOCK but those modded raptors are no joke....a mild build generated more torque than a modded ex has HP. I personally hate them but the do make good power....handle like a shopping cart but are still bad

I would much rather have the KTM but to me there not so much in the sport category more so in the race, w/ the 450s etc... Plus there nuts expensive.

My friends have raptor 660s that are widened and have your basic full pipe stage 1 cam intake tires gearing etc, and they are pretty sweet. The have loads of torque and handle decent. I think for a sport machine for fun fast trail riding the raptor 700 is pretty awesome. I think i would prefer a 450r but like i said thats more race category.

why does everyone assume the 505sx is going to be the new standard in bikes? I dont have any doubt that itll be a ripper but to lump an untested bike into the same category as proven power is jumping the gun a little. JMO

I dont think it will be the new standard.

But the 505 is a VERY high tech engine, and easily more powerful then the 525 XC.

I would rather have the 700 though. The more displacement makes it not have to be as stressed to make power, so its more reliable.

Say what you will... Every Yamaha we have EVER owned never ONCE gave us a problem.
I didnt even really maintain my blaster and it never failed on me. My dads old warrior.. indestructible. Our wolverine? once again, indestructable. Even my dads banshee has been pretty damn reliable.
Hus buddy has an 07 yfz that never gave him a problem.

And I hate the 700xx. I think its an overweight turd. If I buy any IRS it would be the outlaw 525. Same dry weight as a raptor with IRS and KTM power.

I was just joking but; my friends had blasters and they fell apart, and someone else had a YFZ and the rod split the case in half.
Say what you will about the 700 but it has won plenty of desert races. I wouldn't even think about buying a Polaris. My friend had the MXR 450 and it fell a part. He traded it in on the 08' YFZ and says it has more power than that KTM. I may give Yamaha a hard time but that new YFZ-r is looking pretty sweet.

it wins for biggest lol i would never buy one they are big and clunky not sporty at all. renegade 800 is pretty beast, KFX 700 is pretty beast too. raptor isnt anything special its not the craziest thing its more regular.

i dont know about the best sport quad but the suzuki ltr500 quad silla (not sure if it is a ltr) but the quad silla is a mean fast stock bike kinda old but a friend just got one and holy fack hang on they go and i rode a few nice bikes 400cc banshee modded raptor 700r and more

For stock, I would say raptor 700 or ktm 525/505

But modded, the banshee.
You can be banshee haters all you want, but even that kfx700 above probably couldn't beat a 125hp cub banshee.. on pump gas.

Thats only the start of it. On alcohol/race gas they can be pushed into the 140 range. And K&T makes a tripple cylinder verison that puts 235hp to the ground.

You can get 771 Cheetah DMX kits also.

thats a nice banshee the 400cc banshee i rode had the rz 350 street bike motor in it so now the 4oocc banshee has 6 gears and can go about 100mph with ease

oops that was dry weight to wet weight, wet weight of the yfz450r is 405 and dry weight of the raptor 700 is 396. Still not bad

The ZIlla hands down.

If you go to glamis you will see (if your lucky) plenty of them. They are the fastest bikes i have ever seen.

Yeah, stock for stock or if they're slightly modded the zilla is faster.
Buts its also a 500cc two stroke with 52hp stock.

So stock, zilla. Modded, banshee.

Two baddest bikes ever built.

I will have to say the Honda 700xx is the baddest bike right now. And the stock zillas were not fast they were very detuned. Stock the compression was lower than that on a 400ex lol. But with work they are insane.

700xx? lol.. talk about an overweight turd.. a 700 raptor would probably smoke it lmao.

But 2-strokes are always lower compression the 4-strokes. Not by much but they are.
And they were 52 ponies stock.

actually xr650 hybrid quads are pretty darn fast! a few simple mods and 65hp is right there. bore it out get new carb or add dual carb more compression or something and your looking at a beast. i think they are geared to do 100mph stock so i you want a lot of power and to go fast up top xr650 is the way to go. i would love to build a turbo xr650 in a quad. hello like 150hp lol now thats a sleeper

DMC, when you say that 2 strokes have less compression, do you mean cc to cc? Because my YZ125 had 175 psi, while my 400 had 125..?

I did read the review before, and every other magazine I have read that tested it, they all had something else to say.

This site doesn't decent atv tests, but really they make a lot of things sound too nice and are pretty generous on their reviews.

Plus the XX is 508 pounds wet, and the raptor is about 425 or around there.

Brauap, im not 100% sure how it all works. I know the 400ex is 9.1:1 compression while banshee's are 6.3:1, but they both run the same psi.
So I really dont know
