Like the title says I am getting a new quad for the spring and I am debating whether I should go for the suzuki or the yamaha. I have a banshee now but I am tired of the premix and the 2stroke maintenance. I do mostly trail riding. please help me with my choice.

How tight are the trails? If they are relatively tight you might be better off with the YFZ unless you want different a-arms/axle. Also ground clearance is usually an issue on trails so the LTR once again wouldn't be the better choice. Other than that I think it all comes down to preference. I love my YFZ on the trails however, I've never ridden an LTR.

trails = honda or yfz

The stock honda is the worst out of all the stock 450s for mx.

Trails the honda should be a good choice yfz not bad either. Im thinking about trading my yfz for an ltr but my main use is racing.

Squeezed my LTR through all my GNCC's and harescrambles at stock width..

Get the YFZ if you can't think on your feet fast enough to decide whether you'll fit between sets of trees or not.

You are going to hate going from a banshee to a 450. I say go with a 700!

But if your dead set on a 450 go YFZ

I'd say if your strictrly riding trails the yfz would be your best bet. Either way though your not gonna be dissapointed, some of my buddies have ltr's and only ride trails and they do fine. Just gotta worry about that extra couple inches.

I race a YFZ and whenever I hop on my friends LTR it feels exactly the same. Well execpt for the throttle response of the EFI.

He'l hate it until he puts a pipe, filter and rejets the YFZ.

The 700r is fast, but until you go INTO the engine, a 450 can be built just as fast as a 700.

Id say go with the Yamaha, but only because you say your going to be trail riding, for anything else, I would go with the Zuki.

Thanks for the input guys. For each of the quads, is there a specific year to stay away from, because of known premature problems? The trails I ride are pretty big so the the extra couple inches wont be a problem. As for the 700, It is superfast and nice but I dont like sitting up that high and I really dont like the tipping over feeling when taking turns to fast. I love how the 450's handle.

We have an 06 700r, and to be honest, it feels just as stable as y 400ex and every 450 iv'e rode.

It doesn't have that high centered feeling that the old 660's had.

Honestly, for trails... you couldnt go wrong with the kawasaki. Reverse, EFI, its a 450, it looks good...

X2 on the Kawi.

Ive ridden the main 450's and for the trails the kawi was the most convinient. light and agile like all the 450's, has EFI alum frame(handles nice in the air and feels REALLY light all around) and reverse. main reasons i got mine and i never looked back :devil:
