FINALLY i got a 450r.do you think it was a good trade???

well heres what i did i traded my little mx 300ex for a trashed 450r.heres a few pics from when i unloaded it off the truck.

no its not stolen i got the title.but just some rednceks had it.(nothing agenst rednecks).and i kept the rear hipers and tires off the 300ex also the flexx bars.and i got the sparks head pipe just not in the pic.

Thats a good thing about the rims tires and flex bars i was really hoping you kept those. But yeah mine id just say it needs a good washing then maybe take a few parts off to replace em and paint everything a lil and take the graphics off.. lol

it depends on if your keeping the same plastic. but black always looks good and it will go with practically anything.

If you ran the VIN and its not stolen i say great trade, I say white frame or some bright color like orange or green. You would have to change the color of the plastics though to do any cool colors on the frame.

My personal favorite is the black monster theme, or the orange frame black plastic. Blue frame with white or yellow plastic is also really cool. Im sure anything you go with will look good.

I think it was a good trade. Unless the motor is completely toast but i believe you said it ran so maybe its not to bad.

To all the people who keep saying it is stolen, the kid already said he has the title. Did the guy steal the bike, have the owner some how sign it, then steal all the documentation including the title? I doubt, so quit it.

Looks like a good trade man, if the motor is solid, or close to it, you did well.

X2 you seem to know what your doing with the build, your gunna have a nice lookin/running 450 when its done. Keep us posted with plenty of pics!

and just my $0.02 on why they would trade a 450 for a 300ex...is...look at the 450 and then look at the 300.... they probably dont know what their doing so they figure they trade the **** quad to get a better running one.

yea im gonna post a thread in the 450r section for the rebuild pics.so far i got about 20 pics.:p

regardless, whoever previously hammered the hell out of that thing. They obviously didn't know how to maintain it either.

I'd be half afraid to pull the oil filter on that thing, let alone the drain plug! :eek2:

very true, BUT... if he starts running into problems internally (valves, crank, cam, judging by the external condition, I'd make a safe assumption that they didn't do much to maintain it internally) then you could run into some problems and money. that's what I'd be worried about. You just can't trust people anymore.

I wouldn't do it this way if I were you. All you need is a sawzall with a blade for cutting metal. You have done the hard part.

1) jack the frame up so the swingarm is hanging as low as it will go.
2) insert the sawzall blade next to the engine case on the righthand side. Make a cut all the way through the swingarm bolt.
3) now make a cut on the left side next to the engine case.
4) pull the motor out
5) pull the right hand side piece of the swingarm bolt out. You will be pulling it out towards the middle now that the engine has been removed.
6) Use a Dremel to take the head of the bolt on the left side.
7) pull out the left hand side piece of the swingarm bolt. You will be pulling it out towards the middle too.

The other piece of the swingarm bolt will come right out of the engine case too.

The only part that is seized right now is the swingarm bolt is completely rusted on the metal sleeve that the bearing rides on.

I wouldn't pound it too hard with a 5+ lb hammer either. 5 things can happen...

1) nothing because you aren't hitting hard enough

2) you miss and pound the crap out of your frame

3) you crack the engine case because the swingarm bolt is so seized to the metal sleeve so you are pounding it against your engine case

4) you don't crack the engine case but you do spread your frame and risk cracking the frame

5) you luck out and it comes loose

as long as its not stolen and the frame is staright, it was a good trade. you could sell the parts you kept from the 300 and use those funds to get the 450 going. if i were you i would get all used parts, (nerfs, pipe, plastics, etc) except the rings obviously. maybe even a new piston or cyclinder if its trashed. also i would check the oil lines to make sure there free of blockage.

yea im gonna get used parts minus the bearing and rings and stuff.but here is a list of the mods so far im putting on it.

flexx bars
rear hiper beadlocks
ars clutch lever(asv replica)
lsr bearing carrier
sparks racing full exaust
crf cam
11-1 wisco piston

thats just a list of what i have now.but it will grow.
