My 450r is Eastcoast atv built so the carb is done right and it has a Terry cable and all that good stuff....but just recently everytime i crack into the throttle it bogs down terribly, and i have to clutch it till it revs back up....it's never done this before....i cleaned the carb and tried a couple different sized jets but no luck.....the winter weather isnt the prob because it didnt do this last winter.....what should i do????? it only does this at low RPMs...and also when the choke is on it doesnt bog at all

Check your valves, I bet your intakes are out of adjustment. Z.

what kind of carb? what jet sizes, what leak jet? do u have a quickshot? FCR carbs are known for bogging from dead idle, just the nature of the beast but it shouldnt do it if you are moving

My airfilter is fine...i clean it after every prac or race....it is a 06crf450 carb...i had a 165 jet in it to begin with, the i tried everything up tp a 180 still no sign of change,

Not sure to tell you the truth....im not to carb smart, i still dont understand why the needle or anything for that matter with the carb would need changed, it ran just fine last winter. It smokes a little bit when i first start it up, thats a new one to....could it be the valves? I had them checked not to long ago and they were fine

I would recheck the intakes, they seem to wear more often, the exhaust last 2 or 3 times longer...
Just pull the valve cover put it on top dead center and check the ones closest to the carb., should be around .008 I think..

Sure sounds like a jetting issue to me. Do you have the quickshot on the carb? FCR's are notorious for the bog like someone else said.

Just cause it ran "fine" last winter doesn't mean it will now. Different temperatures will effect your jetting, and that's what it sounds like to me. How do you know it was "fine" last winter if you're not too carb smart? Just cause it didn't bog doesn't mean it was spot on either. Could just be slightly worse now with colder temps or something and now it's just more noticeable!?

I would check the valves again to make sure, and then look at the carb, that's where your issue is most likely.

It started doing this before it got cold! Like when the temp was still in the 50s and 60s....im not the greatest at carb work but im a B class rider at nationals and i know when my quad isnt performing right
