Can anybody tell me how to get the rear brakes off a 1985 250? Oh this one had drum brakes. They are froze up and i need to get to them to check it and also see if i can get them released. Never worked on these things are new to me. I've got everything off to where the big nut is next to the brake but can't get it loose so drum will come off.

On those ones im pretty sure you just take the chain off, take the axle out and the wheel should slide back with the calliper in it. Mae sure to take the nut on the brake cable off so the cable can slide out.. or if it has the littlle barel take it out.. Good luck!

This one has a drum brake, it is on the right side. I was able to get it to roll but i want to check and replace the shoes. Also any advice on overhauling the carb and the easiest way to get it off. Thanks for your help.

Yeah, since it's drum brake, i believe you take the brake pull cable out of the lever on the actual drum and take the axle out of the swingarm and it should all slide back anad out. Make sure the bike's on something or hung from something first though.. For the carb.. It should have a clamp on both sides, loosen both of them, pulll it back toward the airbox tube and away from the engine, turn it and pull it out from the side. it should come out without taking the gas tank and such off.
