Hey guys i have a 2002 400ex with an HMF full exhaust, K&N air filter, WIESCO 11:1 88mm piston, Hotcams Stage 1, CRF450 (heavy duty) cam chain, and Port and Polished. The problem is that everytime i try to ride it, it leaks gas out of the float. (this is without even pulling wheelies or anything like that). I have taken it apart several times with no luck. I run it on 93 octane, if anybody has had this problem before and fixed it could you help me out?
thanks, jon

Maybe your float is out of adjustment or your float is sticking?

How well does it run?

How does gas leak out of your float? Can you show us exactly where it is leaking out of? A well worded question gets better responses.

it runs good it just leaks alot of gas out of the tube that comes from the bottom of the float.

Much better. That tube and screw on the bottom of the float bowl is the float bowl drain. Take that screw out and clean it gently and the seat. I don't know if this will fix it, but its a start. Maybe there is a bunch of caca in your float bowl. Maybe you check that too. When you remove the screw make sure the gas is off because all the gas in the bowl will come out. Have a cup and rag handy.

needle valve and seat maybe? Would be my first guess. Must not be seating, which allows gas to flow constantly

thanks guys i got it fixed today, it was the float adjustment next to tube the gas came out of. i took it out and washed it with some carb cleaner and that did the trick.
