ok so i got a 450r right now fully decked out mx ready shocks a arms swingarms, all that good stuff. but i know where i can get my hands on a crf hybrid thats been built for mx. my question is which would be more ideal for the track like jumping cornering and overall handling.

I would rather race on a machine that was engineered for the track, instead of riding some nig9er rigged trail bike with a fast motor.

Exactly, I might be going out on a limb here by saying this but I still say a crf hybrid with 250r geometry is the best quad out there hands down, specially for the price you can buy them at nowadays! Don't get me wrong, the 450's are steller quads but I feel like the 250r feel and look is just pure quad no doubt about it, just the way a 250r feels is awesome.. It's really up to what you like more, 250r feel or 450r.

Yep thats why i was asking what frame,

Ya, I mean a 400ex hybrid isn't a bad quad to start with by no means, they are close to 250r geometry.

If I were in your shoes wayfastwhitey69 I'd run what you have, I'm a 250r guy and it's been a pain in the *** finding parts recently since the 450r took full swing.. Thank god Pap has some 250r stuff lol. If you think about it a 450r is more or less a factory hybrid such as the yfz and etc being one, being said being able to get parts is a HUGE ordeal, I'd say the 450r route would be the better to go in the long run IMO! :)

I have never raced before but i will def. out ride all my friends. I think i want to give it a shot on my 416ex. I guess i would start out in C class considering i have never raced. Im pretty pumped about it.

Play riding and racing are two differnt things! :D lol.. the boys at the track that have been in the racing scence for awhile are quite fast you'd be surprised, sometimes the weekend warrior is a complete surprise no doubt about it! :bandit:

i would start out in c class and if you feel like you could move up do it, ride where you feel comfortable dont over do it, a track is wayyy different from pits and trails. good luck racing is wicked fun=]

Hybrid.

Test was done betwee na hybrid and a built yfz450 and hybrid was better only thing it lost at was the price tag.

The yfz450s better at handling and power than the trx. Honda is in last for performance and handling right now for the 450s.

Stock vs stock with my ltr450 vs 450r the 450r dont stand a chance with the yfz450 is not far behind my ltr.

had a yz hybrid for a wh ile it was fun but i never set it up for mx before parting it out. 250r geometry is the way to go. realy you would have to go ride a hybrid and a 450r to see wich u feel best on. i loved the feel of the yfz on the ground but it was akward in the air. my 450r is just a blast.

Had a full Laeger CRF, and the thing handled like it was on rails, I now have a setup 08 ltr, and feel i am faster on the ltr. Just fits my style better. Some people are faster on production bikes than hybrids. I would never knock a hybrid until you ride a laeger or walsh setup, not the 400ex hack jobs. My laeger was the fastest, lightest, and best handling quad ive ever rode.

I been on all the 450s other than the yfz450r and my hydrid handled better and had way more power than all the 450s. I will always be a hybrid guy.

Dont for get hybrids are built for performance while production quads come detuned for insurance reasons.

Also cant for get the fact that the older quads look like race quads and the new ones look like ET drove em here from mars.

alright, listen ladies.....

To say a production 450, is better then a legit 250r geometry 450, if the dumbest thing i ever heard.

Ride a LSR, Walsh, Laeger hybrid thats built right, and then try to tell me a production bike is better.

I agree. The production 450's may be nice, but not AS nice as a 250R-based hybrid IMO. There's just no comparison to that platform.

You had a haggard chopped up 400ex hybrid. It was a stock 400ex frame with a 426 motor if I remember correctly. I highly doubt that handled better than a built 450r or any built production quad.

bwahahahahahahahahahahahahaha that comment was strait out of dirt-wheels. must had just put the magazine down.

everyone knows that the legendary 250r geometry is the best by far and nothing can touch that. and to say that honda is the worst in all those catagories? look back the past 4 years and see whats been winning on the track. honda's. noobs crack me up
