and to make it faster you can put a 16 front sprocket and 36 back and to add better throttle response i would add a pipe, an air filter, 450r carb, a hotcam, and stuff like that

and a rev box can make it faster. also put and outerwears pre-filter on the k&n and take the airbox lid off for better throttle response cuz better throttle response will get you to the top speed quicker

i'll lead you down a better way to get faster...suspension...

the stock suspension on the 400ex does not handle the stock power of the 400ex motor all that well. it don't allow the power to be put to the ground or to keep it going in the direction that you want it to go.

i guarantee if you upgrade your suspension, you will be faster with the same performance set up that you have now.

so, first things first...

get a steering stabilizer. if you don't plan on racing, a non rebuildable stick style would be good enough. next you should send your rear shock to gt thunder for a re-valve to go with his rear linkage. it will eliminate that buck that rear end has. it will also make the rear end plant more and keep the front end down on hard acceleration.

front shocks would be next...options are limited only by your wallet. if you want to keep it on the cheap side, get a set of 450r fronts and have gt thunder re-valve them also. there will be a world of difference.

so now, with the new suspension, your rear is not bouncing around, but staying planted and keeping you moving forward. your fronts are staying planted instead of being off the ground. all this allows your tires to help you turn better.

since i mentioned tires, the stock ones are good, but there are better. i won't even go into detail on this...i like razr2 up front and am currently running irazrs in the rear...i like the fronts a lot and thought the irazrs was one of the best tires i have had, but the wear on the irazr leaves a lot to be desired...they just wear way too fast
