its better than my v8 truck on gas.... it probably gets about 17mpg pulling that 6x12 w/ 2 wheelers on it. its an automatic but has tow setting that makes it shift harder and at higher rpms... its good for what i need and they are dependable even with the isuzu engine. and upgade the shocks.

Yeah I'm not to happy with my quad-cabbed tacoma and it's V-6 towing.
I have the "power/towing" button too...which I swear is a placebo light to make me feel better.
It's stock with new plugs and a K&N...but damn does it suffer pulling a trailer. (uhaul trailers that is)...it did well when I had a 5x10 trailer...loaded or not.

haha as long as it's geared right, you're good to go. I'd much rather have a healthy v8 sitting in it, but a geared 4.0 will do the job. My brother is going back to college for another degree, so it looks like the rockwells will be put on hold for a little bit. He's pulling out his 396w and building up a stroked FI motor for the ranger. Looking for close to the 700hp mark. The motor he's running now dynoed 535 I believe. haha it's pretty funny when a lifted truck with 35's runs a 12.8 quarter.

i like when they put the toolbox type thing in the bed so it hides the split in the exhaust. I also like when they do a single pipe right up the center. However, clappers are gay. if my truck made a "tink tink tink tink" sound as i was sitting at red lights i would go insane!

I wouldn't put stacks on that truck just due to the fact of the noise outside your cab window. I have a buddy with a 97.5 Dodge with the 12V and also another that have previously had stacks and they got rid of them because of the vibration noise, even using proper bed clamps, etc..
Straight pipe that bish and you'll be plenty happy. Smoke some cars, and still be able to fit a toolbox the RIGHT way.

chip will not add 180hp unless you got some big injectors. stock injectors max out a little below 100 on the 7.3. get you a dp tuner or a tony wildman chip....stacks look killer on trucks when the trucks are set up right... in your case sorry no. too much chrome. chrome kills trucks !!!! but each his own

Thats fine, argue with me on what i paid to have installed on my truck.....im a chrome kind of guy, if stacks are done properly, they can drastically improve a truck. If not, can murder the looks completley. I dont have a "chip" its a "burnt in program" matched up with a banks exhaust, all matched together by "purrformance diesel" out of Fredrickstown OH.

what he was trying to say is that your truck WILL not produce 180 extra hp without the use of bigger injectors, and hes right. 7.3's come with exceptionally small injectors, i think like 120cc. Get yourself some 180+ injectors and youll be making numbers like that on that burn.

it has injectors, dont ask me what specs, but it does. It was all done by "purrformance diesel " out of fredrickstown. is this normal, the rear end gears are 3.73 with 20 inch wheels, and 37 inch tires- dry pavement still spins them exceptionally easy. Im just getting into diesel pickups and i was told thats nuts....

everyone and their mom wants an f150. they are underpowered and have the worst handling ever. that was my biggest concern when i got my dodge over that and im happy i did. and everyone knows cummins is the best diesel motor you can buy. forget duramax and powerstroke. and a hemi is better than an iforce or triton engine, that garbage sounds made up anyways.

worst handling? i beg to differ. oh, and they are far from "underpowered" 360 ft lbs compared to the hemis 375.. i'll take the 15 less ft lb of torque with a few more mpgs than a dodge. sorry, but theres a reason f150s outsell rams.

You can be sarcastic about it I really don't care. My mom told me that when I was 8 (11 years ago). She told me to always get a 3/4 truck or bigger
Like I said the truck I'm getting is military truck with 1.5 ton now that is a truck. That is equivlant to a ford F450 or dodge 4500 :eek2: The M1008 is meant to drive in toughest terrain at full capacity load.

The truck had the front end when I bought it, I got it from a good friend of mine.
Grill, headlights, bumper, bumper brackets, wiring harness for headlights, headlight panel
If you just want the headlights all you need is a headlight panel and the wiring harness for the bulbs.
I think that's about it, im not 100%.

obviously you're going to have to box/modify the frame. Biggest think is your suspension/steering. Having a rockwelled truck would be awesome... Umm the axles do not weigh 5,000 pounds if that's what you're referring to.
Slowly starting to clean/build them up...

HAHA good to know. I personally love single stacks. Cummins are meant to have one stack. One manifold= one stack. I actually get compliments from most guys with regular exhaust, single stacks, and dual stacks that my truck is one of the best sounding diesel trucks. No worries though, thats why the stack is on my truck and not yours

I have a toggle switch on my steering column with three settings:

im not trying to argue im just tellin you the facts. you didn't list injectors on your mod list and thats a big mod. just curious how much did you pay for all this? im not tryin to be a dick but i know 7.3l inside and out. i have one myself and spend alot of time doing things with it :D . i know what will make a 7.3 move and i also know what want make one move.

I must admit to each his own with stacks, but I wish people would leave it to the hardcore sled pull guys, or people that have some sort of taste with trucks.
Anyways...
How the hell are you supposed to blow smoke in the windows of a ricer at a stop sign/light if you don't have a regular exhaust/straight pipe/after cab exit.

What does sled pulling have to do with stacks? Because they pull a seld thier truck is more diserving of stacks so it doesnt get the sled sooty? I dont need to blow it in the widow of the ricer next to me because if its a ricer and not a tuner i will be in front of him which means he wont be able to see a thing.

94 Dodge 2500 2wd with 12 valve Cumins. Just a little over 300k miles on it. Just use it to pull the car trailer, haven't unhooked it in over 8 months. It's an automatis with a lock up torque converter. Lock it up and shift it like a standard, just don't forget to turn it off to stop or it'll stall. The motors had a good bit of work done to it but I don't know what. The stack were on it when I got it. Even put the stupid flapper on them to keep water out of it since it sits most of the time. The stacks are annoying, the're loud and 6 inches behind your ear, but were on it when I got it.

Mudding is no good for your truck either. Liquid sandpaper. Once I get a truck or jeep that will fit down trails, I'll probably be doing mostly tight trails and crawling.

thanks alot bro.i really appreciate that.mxjunkie, since your in the painting buisness you'll appreciate what it took to build this truck.when i started with the truck it was a beat down work truck.i mean beat down.dented, beat up and scratched so bad it looked grey in color.was origanally black.was in sad shape.i bought it and the 1st week i owned it me and my brother took it to florida were our other brother owns a body shop.painted everything black.got new mirrors, front and rear headlights, front bumper cover,3 piece billet grill, rear bumper, new front window, bought the rims down there and had them coated across the street from his shop along with the rear bumper and the 3 piece billet grill and put a bed rug and cover on.then came the inside.we fixed the rips in the seats, new stereo and new white gauges.and had my brother tint the window in between projects.truck is now damn near brand new.took over 3 weeks to complete.no,not done any shows yet but thinking of it.but every weekend is filled up by these damn money pits we call quads.haha

It was a 1995; I bought it in 1998 (18 years old). Over the years, I had the engine worked from a 351 to a balanced/blueprinted 393 stroker at a local race shop- it had a steel crank, crane roller cam, clearanced block, keith black pistons, but all stock intake/rebuilt heads. It was still a torque beast though, and would pull a loaded bed and utility trailer in overdrive w/o downshifting. Also had so much torque that while mashing the gas at a stoplight, it shattered the rear diff. carrier. I had the same shop remove the 3.55 ford "traction lock" and replace it with 4:10 richmond gears and Auburn Pro in the rear- same in the front. Even though I only had 31" Thornbirds, after that- I never got stuck. It would claw thru snow deeper than the rockers with ALL 4 tires spinning like it wasn't even a challenge. Messed around in an old slate pond one night that was deeper than we thought...literally up and over the hood deep...kept on going, all 4 clawing away. Never got around to a lift and 35's like I wanted. Had the transmission built with a shift kit and higher stall convertor as well. Had true duals with 50-series flowmasters that would set off car alarms rumbling thru parking lots. At one time, I was really into car audio, and had a pair of Orion DVC 10's, Orion Cobalt front/rear speakers, a Clarion ProAudio receiver, and a massive Soundstream Rubicon 705 amplifier running it all- I was really into the old school Orion/Soundstream stuff.
I was young, dumb, and loved to spend money. Wish I still had that truck, but a job change required me to drive a car instead due to distance. Now; at 29 I still don't own another truck yet (which is a p.i.t.a. most of the time), but luckily have a good enough job now that pays all expenses and provides a company car with fuel card...even for personal use. Truck or no truck, free gas is like a sore peter...ya just can't beat it.
I get a kick out of all the brand haters on here. I say rock what ya got and be happy with it- everyone could could have it a lot worse. I've driven brand new Dodge cummins duallies, Ford PSD's, Z71's, Duramaxes, 8.1 big block duallies, whatever. I've had likes and dislikes about every one, but they all serve a good purpose.

I have a 3'' body lift on there, to be honest the body lift is good, i bought the truck with it in but you can see a lot more frame, doesnt really bother me, if you have the cash though get a suspension lift.
