clutch trouble

I just bought a used '05 300ex for my son.
Bike is in good condition but the clutch.
The cable was way out of adjustment when I bought it with "0" freeplay in the handle.
I adjusted the freeplay to proper spec and the bike wants to lurch a little when I put it in gear.
It did it before I adjusted the clutch but not as bad.
Any help would be appreciated.
Clutch does not slip.
In a car I would say pressure plate.
I am assuming the metal rings are bad in this quad.

sounds like u have the thing that connects to the shaft that diengages the clutch slightly off so it's not disengaging all the way when you pull it in or your adjustment is wrong.
