Well its getting cold out up here so i decided to do some local ice racing once the lakes frezze up does anyone have some addvice for setting up my quad for ice racing like everyone i am on a budget. I was thinking of getting some 300ex shocks to lower the front dont know if it would be a good idea. i can get them cheap would it be ok to use wheel spacers up front? my quad is set up for xc now. also thinking of going back to stock sprocket setup. thanks for any advice.

300ex shocks will lower it but in my opinion lowers it to much as, for a good setup you want the aarms close to bein parrelel with the ground, but just a little bit higher. with 300ex shocks your balljoints will be close to bottoming out when breaking in the corner. wheelspacers are alright for ice racing since its smooth
surface. the sprocket setup depends on the track with my 450r running on a 1/2 mile ice oval i ran a 14/36. What are your rules where you run at? here in wisconsin they got c class wich is supose to be stock everything also means no wheel spacers. I hope this helps a some anymore questions just ask

Use either mojave or lakota front shocks. Lowered my old 400 ex to a nice height. 300ex shocks are way too short. There are local Ice races in sturbridge starting first weekend in Jan. Hamilton rod and gun. On the rear of my 400ex I just made a longer linkage piece out of some aluminum stock

Are you racing studded or rubber? if your racing studded magic racing makes a front lowering kit for like 80 bucks i think if thats with in your budget they also have adjustable rear linkage for around 80 bucks you can use to lower but its pretty easy to make your own linkage as along you get the right length needed.

the necc was awsome this year there were 5 races (they plan to double for next year) all within 1 hour of here at least 45 riders on quad days and i think 100 on bike days. all quad races on sat. i ran the C class came in fifth over all for the year and did not race the last race, had a dislocated shoulder ( still healing) I will be moving to the b class next year. man it is awsome if you like trail rideing you should trie next year. i have rode in breakneck lots of trails.
Ya off ashland
