i need some help on mustangs, i am planning on getting a 92 gt covertible, its a 5.0 5 speed, right nowit has a mac h pipe, mac headers, and flow masters, i might be forgetting something, currently it is fast enough for me, but i am planning for the future, so does anyone know any good intake and cam combos, i dont want to replace the heads yet, i just want some good cam and intake combos, like i was thinking a trick flow track heat manifold, and a b303 camshaft, then i was getting a larger throttle body, mac cold air intake, shift light, short throw shifter, and some 3.55 rear gears or maybe 3.73 i cant decide yet, so i just want to know any good intake and cam combos you guys might have some experience with. thanks

if it will remain as a street car and need atleast some fuel mileage try the GT-40 intake with a E-303 cam. the F-303 is similiar but more duration and was designed for use with a supercharger.

the other mods you listed are standard 5.0 hop ups. try a set of HOTCHKIS control arms and 24 pound injectors.

my 5.0 ran a best of 11.21 at 116 on street radials, only 9 pounds of boost thru a cammed stock motor and the above mention intake set up. i have another 5.0 that will end up being a street car when its done....ive had my share of racing them:)

actually your plan sounds good to me, my brother has a 1993 cobra, used to have a gt, he raced his old GT and he killed it, i think a cobra intake with the cobra cam[dont know which one that is] and 3.55s and a larger throttle body and mass air meter would kick some serious arse and have you running in the mid 13s and if it is a stout engine in the low 13s, hope i helped

3.73 gears in the rear end is a good setup, not the best for highway but for short distances you should be alright. those are the gears my dad and i are puttin in our 67 nova. should be quick with the 3.73 ratio and M21 close ratio 4 speed.

kenny i didnt you you were mustang man, i used to be crazy into stangs, mine run 10.60@128.
that was back in 1995, that was fast for back then i was in the 15 fastest stangs at my home track. my scanner to a $hit on me but ill have my wife scan some pics of me racin.
my wife has a 89 gt convert, i redid the motor, lowered the comp, and gotta 10# vortech b trim on it.still had stock heads and stock manifold, it runs low 13's and mid to high 12's with a tire on it.

anyway i would go with 30# injectors especially if you gonna use a blower, if you gonna run the bottle id use 30's too.
e303 is a real good cam choice i had one in my car and it ran good, then i had wolverine grind me a cam.

i think those were hoosier street slicks....i hated them....

i ran 10 inch slicks the last year i raced ....loved them:D

not sure where that pic came from...buddy of mine gave it to me...This happens more than most people think, a kid or even a stupid driver goes to his local performace shop and gets a 300 shot of Nos for his stock engine with 150k on it so he can beat that stang....idiots, personally I don't like NOS, poor mans super charger.

lol, j/k friendly rivalry you know.... my suggestion is get desktop dyno and try differnet compinations before buying anything. their horsepower estimates are a bit high but it will give you a good idea what to expect. Then they're also the Firebird/SBC 400 option lol:devil

yeah i agree....

the first block we did that too was on a 150 shot. it took 2 weeks of the block sitting on concrete for us to be able to get the cam out.

i think the worst days spent at the track were import day. nothin like sweeping up civic motors and acura axles all day...lmao!!

i know the imports are all the rage....but give me a V8 anyday:p

you sound like you know what you are talking about. I hate those ricers, but nothing beats the sound of an american muscle V-8's lumpy exhaust note. Any idea what engine that is....I think its a 302, not sure

by the looks of whats left of the timing cover and the 2 metal oil pan brackets i'd say its a 302.

i have seen atleast 4 or 5 blocks in that shape. one was a 347 stroker on the spray.....it hiccuped on its 3rd pass....KABOOM!!!!
oiled the track down nicely:p


lou....we ran the s trim with a 14 pound pully on one car....it was a beast:D many a night at northern parkway takin the bro's money:p

my buddy has a 306 ...gt40 intake...c&l mass air...70 mm T.B.....dart aluminum heads....e-303 cam....30 pound injectors......and a z rated T5. it ran low 11's on the motor....and then he got a lil crazy:devil he bought a DDMI twin turbo and that thing is insane!!!! with 3:55 gears and a 180 mph speedo we can bury it to the trip odometer:devil the car runs mid 10's at over 125 ....but no traction is killing him:p its a very fun car to surprise the import kiddies:macho

yea that englishtown, i was a regular there from 1993 till about 1998
this is the motor i put in my wifes car, if you ever see a burgandy covert gt in nj, downt be sleepin, cause she knows how to grab gears pretty good
