Most people I've talked to say that no matter what axle nut you are using (stock or aftermarket), they always recommend wrapping the entire nut and about an inch of the axle together with a ton of electrical tape. My old one on my 400ex came loose often, but the tape definitely stopped or at least slowed it down.

I use a stock lock nut with a little bit of elect tape over the small locking nut.
It does wonders.

I always used electrical tape. Never backed off once.

Really you shouldn't need to use electrial tape on an anti-fade nut. This is what the pinch bolts are for. I have an RPM and it stays tight and then just tighten the pinch bolts down.

Loctite is not really a good idea. Makes it too difficult later on down the road. I use a little bit of electrical tape, but for the most part, if you tighten the nuts properly, it shouldn't come loose. The tape is for reassurance more than anything.

Agreed. A little electrical tape will make it almost bulletproof.
