300ex starting problem

My buddys having a starting problem with his older 300ex. It starts fine with the electric start when its warmed up..but when ever it sits over night an you try to start it turns over like normal but not much air is coming from the pipe like when it is warm...We pop start it an its starts fine evry time. what could be the problem??

how's the compression? what about the plug. check your gas level too. gas goes bad in these machines carbs if it sits in there for 3 weeks or more. drain it out after you turn the petcock off and fill it back up. make sure you don't have any knd of vapor lock. i had the same problem. clean the fuel system with carb cleaner, and change the gas in the carb and check the plug and it should be good. also, make sure you have a good idle.
