Are thr trx 250 auto trans ? new to atvs this is lt80 kids dad looking for one for me ? I dont get along well with man clutches . lol well thanks

If you mean a TRX250 Ex, it has an auto clutch, manual gear shift. From neutral each time you let off the gas and lift up the gear lever you get 1 higher gear. And of coarse one lower if you step down. No clutch lever.

Unless it an 06+ then it has the "sport clutch" which is pretty cool. Works like an auto clutch but also has a manual hand clutch for slipping and popping (without the stalling)

what about the recon? a recon and a 250 are extremely similar. i think it is an automatic. why would you want auto though? it isn't that tough. when riding a manual, don't let the clutch out all the way until you start to roll. i learned in like 3 hours of riding. the 250 isn't that bad though. just need to have the ear for it, which comes over time. it really isn't that hard, and once i had a manual i didn't want to g back to auto. never ridden an auto ATV before actually.
