Thanks.+2 vs +3 A-Arms

What did you use...
What did it require to run its best...

Stock Offset ok? Another Wheel offset work better?

For shocks i'm looking at Triple Rate Non RES.
Works or Elka....whomever gets me the best deal.

I have a WB E-Series Slip on Exhaust, KN, Jetted Stock Carb, Run an Open Airbox.

Call it a Low/Simple Suspension Mod if you would...

I do 60% Trails / 40% Dunes

Thoughts? Experiances...Ideas?

I have some +2 arms with stock wheels. I measure right at 50" wide up front.

I have Works G Series non rez triple rates up front. They are great. Had experience with Elkas and you couldn't pay me to run them. I'm convinced the guys that run their cheaper models don't know the difference. Back to back, my setup beat the Elka's hands down. Never could get them to even an acceptable setting.

I paid $415 for my G's but they gave me a discount because I bought 2 more sets for my 4wd (front and rear) 4 years ago. I've been pleased with my dealings with them (Works). My bil has Stadium Cross on his Raptor and they are much better than what I'm running but he also paid about 4 times what I did just for his fronts. I get by great doing about the same as what you said you do.

I'd go with +2 and 1:4 offset wheels. It will get the bump steer to minimum while still not making your EX too wide. You could make it 50'' wide with +3s but then it might be too wide for couple of bridges, and tight places in trails.

i have +2 burgards with stock wheels and recently switched to elka triple rates. i havent ridden them yet because im at school. i had a works triple rate setup with 450r shocks. i enjoyed them much more than the stiff springs that come stock on 450r shocks, but they were still just too soft. the elkas i have now are set up for mx, so i think they'll be pretty stiff.. who knows..? all i can say is that i will NEVER recommend works to anybody simply because of their poor customer service. they do make nice products, as the quality of their spring kit i bought was second to none, but i can't stand by a company after the way they treated me. and my rant is over. anyway, 4:1 rims will always handle better than the stock 3:2.

well i have HDusa +2 a arms on the way to my house right now, and i will be running MX valved elka triple rates for +2 a arms as well. my elkas where pretty soft on stock a arms,so im expecting the +2s to make the shock even softer. but still stiffen up on the rough stuff. so when i have a ride report i will definatly post again.

pipeless: first of all, congratulations on the new shocks! did you get the piggybacks?
2nd i thought stock wheels were 4:1?

I used +3. The 400ex is called 45" wide but its 45 in the rear the front is skinnier than the rear.

thanks powermadd, they're not piggybacks.. just triple rate rec series. they're valved for mx so hopefully they'll suit me better, since im getting into tracks more now.

I did some research ( for MX riding )
and I think im going with a +2 A arm kit and 450r front stock shocks .

good up grades at a lower price.

I searched ebay a tad and this is what i found as far as kit for a arms not a bad price it looks like either.
