250R Suggestions

Hey everybody I recently picked up a 87 250R and i'm looking for some performance suggestions for it. Its gonna be a trail bike and I got $2,500 bucks to work with. Its in ok shape needs some work. Help a brother out here lol.

first thing should be suspension, then go into the motor

Like Master said, suspension will make you faster and safer.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to tear it down and replace some seals and bearings and really see what you are working with. While at it, look for cracks, etc on the frame.
