I went out for the first Glamis trip this season and I think I may have a problem with the new CDI box that I just put in.... (Big Gun over rev) My 450r runs great and after about 20-30 mins out riding the dunes I shut down for a quick break and it wont start back up. Pulled the plug and it looks good, when I try to start it, the thing just cranks and cranks and then backfires but won't start...... anybody have any ideas what could be the problem.. By the way the stock CDI is missing

I'm not a fan of after market CDI's. I would go on ebay and get another stock one as a back up.

i have one and im not really impressed with them at all. they didnt feel like anything happened, except for it not hitting the rev limiter as soon. you should look into a programmable cdi.

also i noticed my quad had a kick back when i started it and it only did it when i did get real hard.

Put a stock one back in and do the green wire mod if you want. And have you checked your cranking compression lately u might want to check it and adj your decomp to 60 psi it will start better.

there is a green wire that you cut and it revs higher after it is cut

You cut one of the green wires going to the CDI and it adds 1000 RPMs. There is a picture in this thread.
