It actually depends on what you do. The 480 creates alot of torque and the acceleration is always there. I have only experienced this kit with a port and polished head added with titanium vlaves. When racing motocross it is not very easy to hold on to and wears you out very quickly. It is great for the holeshot and gaining on other bikes in the straight away!!! I am sure it would not be good for the trails.

really? wouldn't it just be like more torque and power? wouldn't that be awsome for the trails? How much of a difference would that really make in conjunction with say like the mods i have? i just want to know if big bore kits really make that much of a difference?

This is not good for trails. The bike becomes all or nothing on acceleration. It makes it very hard to get through trails. I have never tried the kit without a cam installed. It might tame it down enough for the trails, but I still wouldn't suggest it for the trail rider.

i would think the added torque would be good for the trails, stock they arent very trail friendly at all.Theres not much torque on hand stock,a 400ex has more low end grunt. All or nothing powerband? That sounds like a drag ported banshee not a 450r:rolleyes: I think too many people read too many magazines instead of actulally seeing things with their own eyes, just my .02

being faster doesnt necessarily have to be the number 1 priority for EVERYBODY.A topend on a warrior or 400ex will last at least 3 times as long as on a 450r thats being ridden semi aggressively, not necessarily raced. This is stuff i see not what i read in doz' magazines.

my stock topend had a ton of hrs! it was 2 yrs old and was raced as well as trailed. original crank and all for 2 yrs.

i went bigbore and still have the mint crank and top end.

Personally, my opinion is that the Cylinder Works 480 kit for the 04/05 450R is a lot better, more cost effective, looks like OEM (sleeper), and has imo better aftermarket piston options available...;)

I hope this helps.

I had big bore kit on my 08 and it was too much for the track as it wore the dog out of me. If your straight lining its incredible how hard it pulls but other than that it made it harder to ride. So to satisfy my need for straight lining against about anything, I got together a hybrid with a nasty 500 motor and then blew it up. :(
