I have an aftermarket Laeger frame that has dimensions of a mystery bumper. I'm looking for some help identifying what would work without mods.

The upper mount is 6 3/4" wide
The lower mount is 3 1/2" wide

The frame was built in 1997 so take into consideration the types of quads that were available back then.

Id imagine most of those frames in that time period were built to accept parts from 250r's..

Most of the race quads that were built with those chassis' were using 4-stroke bike motors... the very first hybrid race quads...

Good luck. Maybe someone can make a positive identification for you.:)

its not 400ex. 400ex is 6-5/8" upper and 4-5/8" lower. So rule that out. And I though the 400ex was the same as the 250r and the 450r bumper fits both too so I would rule out those 3. Good luck with the search.

nope 450r and 400ex are teh same. 250rs are differnt. id put money on it being a 250r bumper

Unless somebody just measured wrong, it's not 250R. 250R is 6" on top and 4" on the bottom.

I'm thinking 250X, 300ex, warrior or blaster - I'm hoping somebody with those machines can check/chime in.

You have to remember that 400ex, 450R and LTZ, any of those machines were not around in 1997.

still these things were meant to run 250r components and use dirt bike motors everything from the 250r should have swapped over

i have yet to ever find a bumper that was made for the 250r that ever bolted up perfect

pro armor wasnt around back then, you had roll design, AC, DG, and many others and none i ever seen bolted up perfect without a little tweaking, especially the AC and DG

simplilest solution is to call laegers

In a perfect world, but in case you didn't know, Laegers is not owned by Mark Laeger anymore. The new owners have no knowledge of anything produced before the takeover. I've tried asking them about the airbox setup as I can't find anything that works either. They have no knowledge.

I would just like to find something that will fit the top mount or something I can use spacers for, but the top is too wide for a 250R bumper. I'd like to use a PRM baja, but there is no way to modify it to work without damaging it.

My guess is maybe a 250x? I know laeger messed with that setup some back in the day. I checked all my laeger quads here today and none of them had that same measurement as what your coming up with.

And your right, after the company was sold most of the knowledge went with mark on the R and hybrid stuff. Ive called up there before and had to explane to someone that they used to build frames for the R's and hybrids:blah:

But there is a lady that works there that knows her stuff! Ive delt with her several times with questions on my true laeger crf and yzf's and she answered me right away without any hesitation. Im not sure of her name, but she must have been there since back in the day. But again, other than her i havent had much luck with info on the older laeger stuff.

Thank you
Justin

I thought that the hybrids(except 350x in a 250r) starting in 99 with the yz400f and really starting to take off once the yz426f came out. 02 was when the honda crf450r motor starting becoming the rival of the yz426f, thats when the hybrid wars really took off. Doug Gust was on a drz440 motor and the rest was yz426/450f and crf450r untill 04/05. Even then it was a split between using a 250r motor and dirtbike 4 stroke motor. Didn't laeger build 250r frames that could accept 250x/300ex and 350x motors also?? I know they made replacment 250r frames and 300ex frames.
