I've owned 2 Hondas and 3 LTRs over the past 3 years, and currently have 2 Hondas. Both are great bikes IMO...but the Honda is a much more comfortable bike for me. Im only 5'11" and 170 lbs, and i felt sorta cramped on the LTR compared to the Honda. I dont like the positioning of the handlebars/seat/footpegs on the LTR. Also, not sure how much you wrench on your quads, but the Honda is a much easier bike to work on. Everything on the Honda is simple and easy, cant say the same for the LTR. Also, what type of riding/racing will you be doing?

I have a 05 for sale with a dasa built motor and crf carb/ignition.
The 06's are nice but they dont come with true crf ignition, the stator and flywheels in them are alot bigger than crf dirtbikes. the 06's are more powerful stock, but they have alot of tranny problems. They are able to get more power out of the 05 models and they have a bullet proof tranny. the motor in the bike im selling puts out over 60 hp and has never failed me.

Carbs are easier for the average mechanic to tune than fuel injection.

the 06+'s deff do NOT have ALOT of tranny problems, ive got 2 seasons on my stock tranny and its held up fine, just like everyone else i know with an 06, granted a few do have problems i wouldnt say its an empidemic.

You can get more power out of an 05 though, just watch out for the crank bearing

In short, all the years are good, doesnt matter what one you get!

You're right, the transmissions are fine on 07's and 08's. Some 06's have problems. And you might be able to get more horsepower out of an 04-05, but they have longer strokes and smaller bores from the factory. That just means they can't accerlerate as fast, which is way more important than top end in a race, unless its a drag race.
