When I start up my crf450 it starts spitting coolant everywhere out of the weep hole. It shoots pretty hard, not just a drain. The previous owner of the bike said he put the seal in backwards or something. I pulled the cover off it is fine, impeller off it is fine, but did not know how to get the shaft out or anything. Please give me some adivce, thanks Mitch.

To replace the shaft/seal/bearing you need to remove the side case cover. You should replace both oil and water seals while at it. Also when the seals go bad, visually 99% of the time you will not see any type of damage to it while still in the case cover. The shaft will also "groove" slightly. Its always a good idea to just replace it all while doing the job. It will save you in the long run. Also be very carefull while removing the seals. Ive seen too many times people scar up the surface while trying to remove the seal.
Thank you

My bike just got back from the shop, he replaced water/counter shaft seal. Be sure to flush your tranny oil out, it will be a milky and green looking, like red which it should be. Thats if your running honda 80-85w. Usually with any crf motor when you get it used replace all the tranny seals, they wear really fast if you have a built engine!

Also jrspawn, did you mean I should just replace everything from the impeller backwards while I am at it?
And vans, what tranny seals are you talking about?
Thanks guys, Mitch.

Countershaft seal, i believe it is the seal that goes between your tranny case, and engine block itself. Both that and the water pump seal were bad on my crf motor when I bought it. Like I said when you redo those seals be sure to change your tranny oil acouple times after you ride for a milky texture in your tranny oil. If your oil gets to watery, that can cause BIG problems.
