Anybody remember the 3&4 wheel action or dirtwheels test of a 250R with IRS? Would have been around 1988 or 1989 time frame? maybe early 90's don't remember for sure.

I found a picture of it and its for sale, ...which I thought was ironic. Since I was just thinking about that quad.

I don't remember the full history, but I've got the magazine somewhere in a box back home. I'll dig it out over Thanksgiving and see what it says.

The add claims it has a rotax powervalve motor 60 hp. When did the rotax powervalve come out? I thought that was fairly recent, like 10-15 years, ...if that is recent to you.

I thought they did that to a QuadRacer, or maybe that was a few years later? Mid 90's?

I think Triple E made that thing.

They are asking $3-large for it. If it was closer I'd probably buy it. The is a lot of money in motor and suspension from what I can tell in the picture.

You're the second one that's asked about that. Keep in mind I don't know how old the add is.

BTW, If someone on here buys the quad for parts and sells the frame I want first dibs!!... :D that includes the aarms...

Anybody notice the left-side kicker?

EDIT: correction, the add claims a Rotax motor. Not rotax powervalve.

I wouldnt mind owning that, but Ive got some other Rs Id like to build first before going to the oddity realm. Id really like to read or hear about the article on that thing, and the power plant info. Id imagine its pretty similar to the Gas Gas wild 300 as I believe it was rotax powered.

That motor is the Rotax 257, the same one that was put in the ATK bikes, RebelStar 250 and Philips/Rotax Superquads.

Here's a pic of the non-powervalved version

I've been fantasizing about building a hybrid with that motor using a 250R style frame, but they're very rare.

These motors were somewhat popular in karting, from what I understand, but I tried to get on a karting board some time back and see where to get parts and engines, to no avail.

I recall the RebelStar quad having a LoneStar chassis.

I've not been able to find enough info about the engine to tell differences other than there was the non powervalved 257, and the powervalved 257 GSi (I think). As far as transmission differences between the ATK Bike, RebelStar Quad, and kart versions, I have no idea.

I haven't looked much, but I'm guessing the easiest way to get one of these engines would be to either gut an ATK 260LQ dirt bike, or find an importer (I see mention of a guy named Tony Murphy in CA), or act quick on this thread...

Somebody has got to get on that quad... I'd love to have it for my collection. But I don't have a clue how to get that back to the midwest... nor do I like to buy something site unseen.
