I have my quad as naked as I get it (plastics and fuel tank off). A friend who rides XC dirt bikes said the guy who revalved his shockes recommended the rear shock be set to compress 100mm when you sit on the bike compared to no weight on it.

Is it the same for quads? Should I tighten my spring until I get about that, or is it different for quads? Stock suspension all the way around, and I only ride trails. Will be doing an occasional XC race next year (rode one this year and now I'm kinda hooked - just for fun, not planning on taking over the race scene or anything).

So anyone got a quick suggestion?

i really doubt is the same on a quad as a bike. Read this suspension setup article from gt thunder. It should help a lot. There are also two more buttons (shock setup and suspension setup) on the page to click on with some more info.

Thanks Mr Drew. Lots of good info there - but obviously applies more to quads with aftermarket arms and shocks. It says an XC quad should have a shock travel of 11.5 to 12.5 inches. Mine is only around 10". But I can take from that the approximate prcentage of travel they recommend compared to overall and get a good idea.

Yeah i knew it wouldnt be the exact same, but it gives you a good idea on where to start.
