WORCS 2008 -Round 8-Honolulu Hills, Taft California

Well, we are down to the last round of the 2008 WORCS racing season...!!
Round 8 was held in Taft,Ca. at Honolulu Hills . Honolulu Hills offers a variety of terrain including desert, big elevation changes and a fast course!
MX consisted of large step up and several table tops .

I had a chance to spend a little more time in the pits this round with a few of the families that make this series so great! :)

As mentioned in the past, WORCS is supported by families of Moms and Dads as well as the Youth.

I guess in this case, birds too.

Rider count was down this round, but still a great attendance as several of the riders were still down to the wire on points for the 2008 championship.
This was a very tight points season and kept everyone on the edge all the way to the end!
Weather would remain dry and hot with temps into the upper 80's to lower 90's .
Track conditions would consist of a dusty/dry course at times ,but was water maintained threwout the course including ther Offroad.
The WORCS track staff done a GREAT good job trying to minimize the dust all wk end.

Friday practice kicked off as usual..
The big step up had some serious hang time and was a BLAST to shoot!!

Jumping right in to the Sat. Pro Production race ....
16 riders are off!

Team Polaris Doug Eichner gets out front and lead the entire race to the checker .

#549 Beau Baron wraps it up 10 seconds behind Eichner in the #2 slot.

#10 Dustin Terry was movin right along...!
Terry gets off in lap 1 in 10 position,moves up to 4th in lap 5, and secures the #3 slot in lap 6.

#19 Ryan Orr in 5th position in lap 1,slips back slightly at mid race ,but regains position and wraps up the #4 in Pro Production.

# 370 Robbie Cockrell moves up from 9th posistion in lap 1 to a 5th place finish.

Kawasaki/DATS Racing # 61 Dax Snow starts out in 8th position in lap 1 to slipping back to 10th in laps 2 and 3, Snow would re-gains position and move up to a 6th place finish in Pro Production.

#15 Ryan Piplic moves up 3 positions,moving up from 10th in lap 1, to a 7th place finish in Pro Production.

# 760 Jeremey Gray moves up from 12th position in lap 1
to the #8.

Can Am/ Motoworks #70 Brandon Smith moves up from 11th position in lap 1 to 9th.

Rounding out the top 10 in PRo Production was #288 Dean Pierce .

Pierce slips back from 6th position in lap 1 to a respectable 10th place finish.

30 riders lined up for Prod. A class!!

Can Am /Motoworks #49 Dillon Zimmerman moves up from 2nd position in lap 1 to taking over the lead to the checker in lap 5.

Prod. A rider #101 Curtis McNitt Jr. led the race until mid race ,and would hold the #2 slot to the finish.

McNitt also held the fastest lap time in lap 2.

#417 Josh Row moves up from 6th position in lap 2, to 3rd position for the rest of the race and securing 3rd place in Prod. A.

#45 Garrin Fuller starts out the race in 7th position ,but moves up in lap 3 to a 4th position and holds it to the finish.

# 223 David Haagsma starts out the race in 13 position, but moves up to a 5th place finish.

#1r Bronson Bundy moves up from 9th position in the 1st lap to a 6th place finish in Prod. A.

#116 Keith Johnson moves up from 17th position to a 7th place finish in the final lap.

#135 Andrew Lattimar starts out the race in 4th place, but slips back to the #8.

#150 Gilbert Flores moves up from 23rd position in lap 1 to 9th in the final lap!

#62 Pete Garcia slips back from 8th position in lap 1,to rounding out the top 10 in Prod. A.

In the Open Pro class, #258 Jorie Williams moves up from 6th position to the #1 in lap 4.

#8 Timmy "TPQ" Shelman took the 2nd place for the day,but not before losing a wheel on the final lap!

#97 Michael Owens moves up from 5th position to the #3 in Open Pro .

#63 Jon Wayment moves up from 9th position in lap 1 to filling the final slot on the podium in 3rd.

# 313 Bryson Dunlap slips back from 4th position to a 6th place finish.

In the Sunday Pro Main, 24 riders are off!

Can Am/ Motoworks Brandon Smith starts out the race in 2nd position but took over the lead all the way to the checker in lap 2!

Yamaha's Dustin Nelson finishes roughly 15 seconds behind Smith in the #2 slot.

Despite what appeared as a possible motor expiring, #2 Doug Eichner held on strong and rounds out the top 3 in the Pro main.

Pro Privateer #549 Beau Baron finishes 9 seconds behind Nelson in 4th.

WORCS hosted an AWESOME wk end for the Awards Banquet for the 2008 season.

For the Youth classes, a black light puppet show was held and let me tell you... this isnt like ANY puppet show Ive ever seen!
It was VERY AWESOME for the youth AND adults!
There was a ton of work and effort put into the show and it gave the Youth riders a night all there own. :)

Does anyone have pictures from race #10 on sunday morning? I saw them taking pictures but i cant find any of them anywere. Im looking for the #500 Red plate Sport A 15-29 rider. The quad is Orange and White and the rider is wearing orange and white to. Thanks.
