The throttle on a 400 ex is so much eaisier, and smaller. I was wondering if the the throttle and cable would work on a 250R.

it will, but you won't be able to open the carb all the way.

an 85 atc250r throtte is the exact same as trx250r. Maybe you are talking about atc350x or atc200x? Early model atc250r's(air cooled) are actually what lectron recomends for their carbs. They say it opens more than the 400ex. I really don't see whats wrong with a 250r thumb throttle. On my hybrid, I had a 400ex thumb throttle, hated the angle of the lever, swaped it to a 250r. On most of my atv's(when I used thumbs), they all got swapped to 250r levers. Later on, I started using adjsutable levers and liked those much better.

With the exception of this post, most often when I see this question, it's more about availability rather than ergonomics.

I might try a new cable first.

Order a Honda TRX90 thumb lever for your OEM 250R throttle. It will bolt right up and is slightly longer giving you less effort to push. A new cable is also always a great idea. I think the stock 250R throttle is the best because it has that leverage ratio deal built in. I would be looking to use it on other quads, not vice versa.
