I have a set of NEW IN BOX 88 and 89 fenders sets.

Realizing the economy isn't good, how much would you think I can get for them? How much with a Brand new Headlight?

How much if the economy is good?

These are NEW with OEM hoods.

i have seen rears as low as 200, and fronts for about 250 or so i guess the color would matter some. and beings it is almost winter, people are geting ready for christmas, so i have seen alot of things reposting on ebay over and over. to most people unless is a present, or you are doing a winter resto wont be in the market for fender untill spring.

Thanks, I have one and I've been building it since 03.

I've never seen a NEW OEM 88 or 89 hood go for less than $300 recently. So I was thinking minimum $1000+ shipping

I sold a full maier set with stickers- new, never been run for $450 recently. I also paid $210 for a rear and 2 front fenders recently- RED 88 OEM with rough stickers- the whole set is in rough shape, kind of dry but still shines up decent. I already had an OEM 88 hood with light, good thing cause I would not have given $300 for one! Can't you still order all the fenders from Honda? I seen them on Honda parts directs at about $900-$1000 for the whole shooting match.

Let it fly on eBay like Wes is doing... he started it at no reserve for a very low price.

You have to trust the market.

When I bought mine, they were no longer available.

I guess I'll watch Wes' and see what they go for and add $300 for the newer style hood.

I've got two OEM 88 hoods and two full sets of 88 fenders, all new. I wouldn't even think of selling them though.

Its all about finding the right buyer! Ive had several sets oem new in the boxes. 1000+ shouldnt be a problem for a set. On the other hand, ive never seen stock oem hoods bring much at all. Heck i had plenty of those i pretty much gave away:( Ive still got more of it all here, but i like to hold on to alot of this old stuff as its getting harder to find.

So can you or can you not buy NEW OEM Honda 250R plastic? From Honda or any other supplier?

Not trying to sell them for that mike, they HAVE sold for that. Almost every new in box oem set ive had or seen has sold at 1000 give or take very little. Keep in mind the fenders( at lest the fronts i believe) have subbed part numbers over the years. And some collectors search for all original first run parts(part numbers) sometimes.

Have you tried? If you can order a set including the OEM 88 or 89 hood, I'll go out on a limb and say you should order every single one they have because they have been discontinued for over a year.

As far as I know, only Red fenders are available, but not the hood.

I too called Service Honda and the exact quote for fenders minus the hood was $574.04 plus shipping. The bad thing is shipping is going to cost an arm and a leg.

I know it might sound crazy. But i know for a fact that complete original first run part numbered OEM 250r fender sets in the box have brought over 1000, on numerous occasions.

Thank you

i dont see how that is... only if it was straight from hondawhen they made them still and you had the paper work.

jrspawn
11-09-2008, 05:35 PM
Is what it is i guess. The sets the i know were sold over 1000 had no special paperwork, just new oem first run's still in the box. Collectors pay good money for items that they want.

Thank you

Correct, alot of people dont realize that the part numbers have been subbed up over the years. To the normal rider this does not matter. But like posted the collectors know what they are looking at.

If you are talking about the original 86/87 style fenders with the warning label imprinted in the plastic, those would go for big money - probably upwards of 2K if they could be found new.

Either way, the ones I have are a little older, not the latest run, but probably not the earlier ones, it's just that the hoods are no longer made and if you need a new hood, it's probably worth it to buy a complete set for a resto or somebody who just really wants it.

Yup, i got rid of three complete Original still in the box 86 first run sets a year or so ago. Didnt get 2k a set out of them, but if i held onto them for a while im sure i could have found someone that would be willing to give that. Ill have to double check but i know ive got at least one more set of them maybe two packed away.

Thank you

i just bought some from a local vendor anf they are oem with the light and i paid 823 with tax

i thhink the point of selling any thing is it is only worth what some one is willing to pay for it and i would guess to a collector they are priceless but to a racer like me i would run fullbores, and if i bought an R and it had good orginal plastic, i wouldn't even think twice to cut them. oem first runs or not, to each his own guys.

That's the replacement seat, it does not have the correct height foam for an 86. I had one on my resto, and eventually found an NOS (correct height) seat. As for the fenders, they would have to be brand new, and must have OEM NOS decals, not reproductions.

:ermm: That seat is an oem original 86 seat from honda. All my fenders were/are also.

The one I had was also an OEM seat, but somewhere along the line Honda stopped using or ran out of the correct foam for the 86-87 and started using the 88-89 foam on all the replacements. I'm sure a true 86 or 87 new would be worth quite a bit of money now. I was lucky when I found mine, if I remember correctly, I paid $250-300 for it.
