cant get to start...plz help

hey guys. i put up my 400ex for about a month and a half to 2 months because i bought a yz250(way cooler than a 400ex) but i wanted to get my quad out and running and i cant get it to start. i pulled the plug and it was pitch black...i think that was from leaving the gas on. but anyway, i bought a new plug, tightened it correctly and it has spark, but the bike will not run. im kinda new to maintenance of machines but my dad says its a carburetor problem. my first instinct is the carb is gummed. u guys have any ideas?

Remove plug, spray carb clean in it, put plug back in and crack away and see if it will fire.

Gonna agree with your dad. My won't start either and the general consensus was that the pilot jet may be plugged or another jet. Try cleaning it out really well.

yeah i think that im going to spray car/choke cleaner through the jets to unblock them if that is the problem
