weird noise

so i was riding with my buddy, and made a turn and i notice he quad made a clicking sound. so he rode it some more but it was fine until he made a turn then it made the noise again. he has a 2002 400ex. Any ideas on what it could be?

could be bearings going out.

at first i thought it had to do with the chain, but it wasn't. then someone said maybe the axle bearings, but he never got to it. do you think it may have anything to do with stress on the engine or transmission?

Its axle bearings, I just went through it myself.
