I'm new to the quad scene and I currently have a 2002 Kawasaki KX250 with a new top end, pro-circuit pipe, boyesen reeds, and a smaller front sprocket. I was offered a trade for a 1999 Honda TRX400EX with a 2001 motor that was bored .30 and $500. Just wondering if I am getting a good deal or getting the shaft?

going from that bike the 400 is going to feel slow i think maybe if it was straight up but not with $500

TRY IS FIRST. its going to be half the acceleration of your bike. i have a yz250 and had a pretty decelntly modded 440ex. the stock piped yz smoked it lol your not going to see anywhere near the power the kx has.huge personality difference bewteen a 4 poke and a 2 smoke. have you ridden one yet??

I planned on riding it for a couple hours to test it out anyways but I rode my buddy's stock yfz450 quad and I loved it. I'm not racin just playin around on it.

I wouldn't do it. He wants to trade you so he can get something fast, because he did everything to make the 400ex fast and its still not.

if you want a quad that dosent sound too bad to me. there is nothing like hitting band on a 2 stroke but i wouldnt trade my 400 for anything. its not as fast but 3 times more fun

imo as long as its in good shape and you want it go for it

400ex is a great quad...if you are not racing, or planning to do backflips....and are tired of your bike....trade the dude. You can always go get another bike bro...why not...your call

yeah why not,in all honesty they are pretty close in value right now,the mx thumpers are hot right now so nobody is really looking for 2 strokes(not to race at least)and everybody is buying 4fiddeis instead of the 400ex.Plus you can ride the 400ex all year long:D

thats what I'm starting to think. a quad will be alot more fun all year around and I'm gettin a lil tired of havin to keep my 2 smoke wound up all the time.
