I'm looking at a 95 f-150, straight 6, auto, ac, 87,000 miles, 2wd for $2200. I called the guy yesterday and he said everything mechanically is perfect he couldn't ask for a better truck. He said the reason for selling so cheap is because its got a lot of scratches and dings. I am going to look at it this afternoon to check everything out, cause a good paint job might make this truck look fine. But the reason for posting is are their any big mechanical issues with this model of truck or motor problems what not?

the straight 6 (300) is a great motor. i've never been a fan of their auto trannys, but haven't heard much bad about them.

my dad had a 1990 straight 6 in his F150. sold it with 130,000 miles. saw it about a year ago and it was still running like new!

Straight six is a tank motor. You should get milage out of it like a diesel. If it has the dual tanks make sure you try both tanks on a test drive. Also if they are empty fill them to half they tend to leak sometimes. While driving pay close attention to the front end for thuds and rattles, not a huge deal but those miles on the f-150 platform ,its ball joint time. One more thing is to look at the oil pan not sure where you are but in ohio those years ford oil pans rusted out pretty quick. If the paint is flaking poke it with a pen and see if its soft. I woulnt let any of the obove repairs steer you away from the truck. Just try to be an informed buyer so you know what your getting into and can use some of this stuff as a barganing chip.

Well the truck wasn't near what it was said to be. Both sides of the truck were a mess . He said he got the truck wedged between two trees. And you could deffinately tell . The hood was buckled. AC didn't work, and rust was eating through in places. Ran good though lol. Too much work for me. Still a good deal for a work truck but i'm looking for something a bit nicer. I'll prolly go with one of the older model fords with the 300 .

That's reassuring. Mine just hit 200,000 a few months ago, probably still has a lot of life left in it.
