I'm right there with you. I'm also building a small bore bike this winter. I'm using the YZ250F motor though. I'd say it should be a lot of fun to ride, but nowhere near the torque of our big motor bikes.

I built one a few years back using a 250R geometrey CRF450 chassis. Pretty easy build for me.

I'll be building one of these bikes for my boy using a stock 87 trx frame. I'll post up some pic's as soon as I can. It will have a stock 04 crf250 engine.

416exmx, How did the stock crf250 pull the quad? Do you think It will be enough for a light weight kid to tear around on?

Check out kidsonquads.com. they have been doing them since 2004, they usually use the rmz 250, kfx250, or the yfz 250. the motors are shorter( dual cam) vs the taller honda, and they fit right in. I saw One of their riders in mi. and he was smoking the 450 A class on one.

The yamaha motor is short but it comes with the external oil tank that needs to be custom fit in the frame. On jbatvracing.com he built one awhile back for Thomas Brown. If it were me, I would use the Honda just based on teh cleaner install.

416exmx, that is one clean looking bike.
