View Full Version : sprocket hub removal ?

, 2001 400 EX, I have looked in the manual but do not see how the hub is removed/installed. mine is chewed up where it goes into the bearing carrier so I need to replace it.

The hub is pressed on I think.

yea it is pressed on with a small ring hollding it in place

So how do I get to the ring to remove it?

It is extremely hard to get off. The 2.5 ton press at our shop almost didnt get mine off. You move the hub towards the brake hub side first, take the clip off, then press it off the other way.

If its really bad i'd look for a cheap stocker on ebay.

The part of the hub that looks like it fits into the seal is kinda rough so I thought I better replace it, maybe I can smooth it out some.
