Anybody ever put 400EX plastic on a 250R? I saw one at SandLake dunes in Oregon. I want to know how hard it would be to do that.

Thanks for reminding me.... I bought a brand new set of 400ex plastic for my R including the ex light and seat but have not done anything with it as of yet. It has been up in the rafters for about a year now. I saw and add in Dirt Wheels some time ago about installing the 400ex plastic on an R but was never able to get the company name or phone number for a mount kit. Anyone able to help? From what I can tell the seat brackets from the R seat need to be applied to the EX seat, or the frame on the R needs modified......

you have to trim the flat part off of the front seat mounts..(the plastic hooks on the front of the seat)..i think you'll see what i mean when you look at it..as for the fornts you on your own but i think the stock 400's front mounts work the same on the 250

One of the guys at my local Honda shop has 400 plastic, but I think that they put a R motor in a 400 frame. I am going there tonight or tomarrow, I will ask. ;)

Does anyone by chance have the article that was in the Atving magazine? If so any chance you could scan it?

Thanks

hey papaw, how big of a difference could you tell w/ the high compression piston and XR cam, how was the low end power and top end power?

it made a huge difference pretty much all around, but i made the mistake of doing all of my mods at once because i had to split my cases to replace my shift shaft last winter.i figured since i was already inside i might as well do it up.....as for my port work i just matched and cleaned up the head, and that gain was noticed mostly on the top end.....

Papaw, how do you like your wiseco 416 kit,xr400 cam, oversized intake valves, mild port work? I have a friend witha 400ex that wants to do this. We have never heard much about it.

if i had to do it over again i would do the same thing.only i would do them one at a time just to see where i have gained my power,so when i lose that power i would know pretty much where the problem is.but as far as reliability goes my motor ran strong all summer long and is still going strong.dune 250r how is that 89' long rod kit doing for u?i have a friend with an 86' looking to do the same thing this winter........

When I first rebuilt my engine I noticed that I didnt have hardly any bottom end torque. My crank bearings went bad so I had to crack open the bottom end. I figured that since I had the bottom end apart I would put the 89 Hot Rod long rod kit in. I made a big difference in my low to mid torque. I would reccomend it. You will need to buy a 4 mm spacer plate.
