just wondering if there is a such law limiting the number of used vehicles someone can sell in a certain amount of time. I bought and sold cars to make money over he past year and went through about 7 and someone mentioned there's a law. any info would be great. im from Louisiana. thanks, neil

btw- I asked at the DMV and they said no, but the workers at the DMV are really clueless

I think in IL the law limits you to 5 or 7 a year, the you are required to have a dealers license.

I would think if their is a law concerning this, it would have something to do with a dealer's license.

opps I see sly400ex pointed that out

I know here in New York you can sell up to 5. After that you need a license. But the way around that is to keep the title open, That is not to have your name on it as the buyer or seller.

When I buy a used vehicle, we meet at the notary and they sign it over to me, so instead of going to the DMV, I just go to the notary again and sign it over to the person I sell it to?

There is a law about this, probably different between states. You have to get a dealer license if it's over XXX amount sold. I think you can buy as many as you want.

It's a state thing, so it varies from state to state. In Nevada, three is the limit before you need a license.
