ok so my friend just got a used 250ex and its leakin oil. the oil is leaking out of where the head pipe and the muffler connect, the oil then drips down and follows the pipe to where it bends and drips onto the motor. what is the cause of this? im think eather the valves need to be adjusted or the rings are shot. what do you guys think

what year is it? regardless, your best bet is the rings. does is have a certain smoke color in the exhaust? thick white smoke means your rings are bad.

no smoke out of pipe, just the poil running out of it

oil level is too high. just drain the whole thing out and let it sit draining for a while to make sure. then, change the oil. if you want, you could take the head pipe off and clean it out and then put it back on after you do this. you could possibly have a cracked ring, which is different from a worn ring: there is enough oil going by but not enough to produce smoke. most likely thoguh it is the oil level. takes around 1.6 quarts.
