i'm not sure if my shock is adjusted all they way up or not from how it looks, but it is very soft and bottoms out by leaning down on it. how exactly do you adjust it? do you just hit the protrusions with a hammer and screwdriver or what? i'll get a pic of where it's at.

Put quad on a center stand so that the swingarm and rear wheels are under no load. Most of the time you can grab the spring and spanner nut and twist at the same time. Turn assembly to the right and this will stiffen the rear end by compressing the spring. Use a hammer and punch carefully if needed. Having it tore down that far I would remove the shock and adjust it off the quad.
The stock shock is really bad. We opted for a 2001 Raptor rear shock off e-bay for $50 and it has really worked well.
