Most use a blaster or a zuki LT230

depending on the size of your rider, but the Apex and DRR can be used also.

hey marc,

we a thinking about doing the same with a drr frame and a 65cc. what do you do with the swing arm, can you just flip it. and what pipes will work with the drr frame.

thanks ken

The 2 stroke will rip those frames right apart IMO.
They are rough enough on chromoly frames.

so what should I use then? I was thinking cheap but by looking around and what I heard I might as well buy a new one Im thinking about the can am 90

If I was going to build another one... I would use a JB frame.
I have built one with the cr80 motor on a Kasea frame and it
broke everything!! The cr80 motor on a drr, Kasea, Apex frame
is not a good idea!! There just not strong enough.

Here is a picture of ours on a JB frame.

JB FRAMES ARE NOT CHEAP, WHERE CAN WE GET A USED ONE AND WHAT OTHER FRAMES WILL WORK. I WANT A SMALLER FRAME SINCE MY BOY IS ONLY 8.

You should call kids on quads, they make 2 sizes of frames for the 90 mods a full size 250R style, and a 3/4 size. a buddy of mine just got his full size from them, and he paid 3500.00 for the frame with his motor put in, with a set of lt a-arms, steering stem, and swing arm. their phone # is 616-363-1215

dude im sorry but get that thing out of here... im sure im gonna have 50 people on here but there is no way in hell that your son can use all what that quad has... not a single chance... you dont need the aftermarket chassie and you dont need the long travle front end... i would really like to see your son use what that quad can handle... im not saying your son is slow or a bad rider at all... i've never seen him im just sayin that thats the biggest waste of money i've ever seen in my whole life... why are you wasteing it all in that set up?

I agree with the post about getting a mod. frame you can use a jb or one of our dc frames. You will spend more money up front but you will have a bike that will last for years. Every frame i have built in the last 6 years is still one the track and running. Look at cam covils mod. It is 6 years old thomas brown won a national title on it and then sold it and cam is still riding it.
Billie fraiser in oklahoma has a used dc frame for sale and it is not to high. he is in tulsa. give him a call. I have never put a cr motor in a drr or apex i know a lot of people have. I just do not know how long the frame will last. The first frame we used was a 250r frame and they are to big for smaller kids. If you want to try one in a drr frame give me a call and i will see if i can help you. thanks dc

I agree with Dave. It cost a little more to build but worth it. I didn't know Dave when we built our jb mods but we have hade very good luck with both of them. I would consider a smaller frame if your kid is small. The 250r works well if you have a tall kid or they are just comfortable on the big of a bike. That 250r is sweet.

ok... dude all i said is i think its dumb i dont care who it is you dont need the long travle front end... bill balance raced a 250r once apond a time with ST front end and he said it was the fastest quad he ever rode,
ike i said before im not saying your sones a bad rider or anything like that... all i said is theres no way in hell that your son can use what all is on there so why do you spend the moeny on it... how is ever gonna crack a stock 250r chassie even with some reinfrocements in it if he really knows how to ride.

and if hes clearing a 80 foor gap and over shooting you know what its time for bigger jumps, or throw totally new stuff in there...

to me you had everything to him and im sorry i really hate kids like that... theres 3 of them at my school and i could beat them up all the time because they are just ****in retarded as hell... and if you in the CR125 why dont you have him on a 300ex or a 250x or a blaster... whats the point of the 125? all i said is its dumb to have all that money tied up in to a quad when you dont need it to be.... you could have it saved since we both know your not gonna get what you have in to it back out, and have a new yfz 450 or ltr when the time comes... and even with that 80 foot table top or what ever hes not using all the long travle in the front end... i bet you that in a set up like that you can hardly tell what standard travle is any different...

its my opion and i dont care what you think... if a mod wants to ban me then ban me, it its from som of the dumbest reasons for standing up for what i think...

and if a JB 90 chassie was so bad why is there one with a yamaha yz250f in it?

Woodsracer144....If you look at it from a cost perspective it actually makes alot of sense to go the 250r route IF your kid is comfortable on it and can handle the full size chassis.
Think about it,have you looked at 250r's for sale these days? You can buy a complete race ready 250r with long travel and all for $3500-$4000....a NICE one.You buy that, ditch the engine and swap in the cr85 and you have a nice hybrid for a fraction of the cost of an aftermarket chassis hybrid. You may even be able to sell the 250r engine to offset the cost of the cr85 engine and be even further ahead.

Nice quad aasco90!

woodsracer, the jb you speak of is cole fites, a washingtonian, do you know what hes riding now? lonestar 250r with a cr125 why the 125 because the worcs series in the shifter classes is 85cc to 125cc two stroke and because of that are local tracks are the same, when i built this quad for my son from craigslist ebay and rockymountain, i kept track of receipts and have a total of 6800 into it,i was going to get a jb but my 14 yearold is 6ft+ already and didnt want my 10 yearold growing out of the jb in a few years dont get me wrong i love the jb's but we love the 250r and went from 85 to 125 and in a few years 250 fourstroke all in the same chassis, as far as size go's the ster stem is -1 back and the foot pegs are up 1in and forward 1in he sits on it the same as he did on his apex,he raced the worcs race here in washington and it was a 50 minute race half xc and half mx and won the shifter sport class and raced the tpq series witch is 1hour races and guess what he won the series, he can ride this quad for hours without fatigue, its amazing to me,to sume it up for the price and me being a lover of the 250r this is what we came up with,I asked him if he wanted to sell his quad and get a raptor 250 he said no way i wouldnt sell my R for a million bucks:D woodsracer your entitled to your opinion thats what this forums are for :macho

my brother built my nephew his 250r/80 hybrid after trashing a preddy 90 tooo many times..he's 13 and hitting his groth spirt and soon will be out riding the 80cc..then its to a 250crf engine..then to a 450r when his age allows in his class..cost efficient to build one rolling chassis then switch engines as the rider grows older..http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v226/playful316/DSCF2163-1.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v226/playful316/DSCF2154.jpg

here are my daughters 400ex mini quads and......... we have also owned a jb 90 mod........... we have had 3 400ex mod quads with the cr85 on them .............the girls are only 5' 4" 120 lbs and 5' 5" 125lbs they love the full size chassis and did not like the jb mod we race the wpsa in 07 and my daughter finished 4th overall in the supermini class and raced the gnc in 08 on these quads ...... .... so i think it depends on the kid and what they feel good on.......... to each their own
