what is a hot start?? i know nothing about the 450r !! obviously!

When pressed, it lets fresh air into the carb. This makes it easier to crank when the motor is hot. You want to hold it in when you are kicking, then let it go after it is cranked.

hot start leans the carberator so it is easier to start hot. There is a hole in the carb a plunger goes in and when you press the hot start lever it pulls the plunger out opening some passages that let more air into the air/fuel mixture.
