i know ride height for trail riding is 7-10 inches. i have a 400ex and do a combination of trail riding and jumping. what is the best ride height for this style riding? i'm running a stock rear and yfz 450 fronts.

I don't beleive the stock 400ex rear is rideheight adjustable. Just the 5 click preload adjustment, correct?

The stock rear on the 400ex has threaded preload. A 400ex with stock shocks is around 9" of ride height since the fronts don't have much adjustment.
I had always thought that the collar at the bottom of a 400ex shock allowed the ride height to be lowered. I've never done it, but the collar is jagged, or stair-stepped. Seems like to me, if you rotated it to a "higher" position it would let the front end sit lower.
If this isn't right, what's the purpose of the jagged collar?

my rear preload is adjustable, and i have yfz front shocks that are adjustable. what is the best ride height for jumping? or does ride height have nothing to do with jumping?
the YFZ front shocks are going to screw it all up because they make the quad sit so much lower now your rear has to be lower than the front. I can measure my sag and stuff but its more for my weight 160lbs with gear on
