I don't race, but i did make a track behind my house. I jumped my biggest table top (26 ft gap) with this conversion and it held up fine. No huge jump test yet though.

i got 400ex lights does that count??

I have converted a 300 I had a long time ago. I used a stock 250R front end with the shocks and put them on the 300. I had to relocate the shock mounts on the frame. Now I think triple E enterprises makes a conversion kit. (you may find them in the rear of dirt wheels) It worked great. Good luck!

You can make a mount yourself out of 2x1 square stock and weld it in,get all the angles, measurements from the 400ex and your in there ,no problem,my works great and my friend runs it in the BUCCS series.

My friend has some pics in his camera of me with 8' under me. I can't wait to see them! I had a friend help me with the shockmounts. This one isn't quite as big.

Sorry. Wasn't sure if that was going to work or not. That's a pic of my 250X with a 250R front end. It's been on there for about 2 1/2 to 3 years of pure **** with out a problem. I ordered the kit from a company in Phoenix, AZ. It came with jigs, new upper shock tower peice, etc. It was $140 back then. I know the picture sucks, I'll try to get some better ones.

MXQUAD294 do you do any flat track in Arkansas?

MXQUAD294
12-19-2002, 06:07 PM
No, I don't personally do flat track, just MX. I know a guy from down your way that comes up here and runs at the TT track in Greenbrier, AR - It's about 2 hours east of me. From what I've heard, the track is a copy of the TT track in Orville, OH. Keith Little stops by now and then and runs there. Actually, the photos in ATV sport about the LSR TT quad were taken at that track, Twin Creeks Raceway. I've been meaning to go check it out.

Yeah one of my friends dads just bought Keith Little's MX LSR bike it is so sweet. And, some of my friends are going up to Greenbrier this weekend to practice for the Tulse shootout.

I am still trying to figure out when the time comes, if i want works or elkas. I dont need anything for racing. I usually go trail riding with some jumps at my friend's house. Does anybody have some prices on elka from various places?

here is a pic of my new shockmounts. they bolt on. they are similar to toby300ex's but i used 2x1 square stock insted of two separate flat pieces of metal. This thing is as strong as ****. I made it in about an hour.

Here are my **** TECH A-arms that I built for my 250X. They are long travels that utilize the 400ex shocks.

Instead of having to weld new brakets on, could I use a lowering kit? Would it work fine the a 400ex front end?

THanks

05-04-2003, 06:35 AM
I wouldn't recommed it because you will drastically change the shock angles.

But using the lowering kit is pretty much the same as welding the mounting tabs a couple inches higher, I don't see how it could make it any different than welding them? It would be allot easier too.

I thought that you were talking about a Durablue lowering kit and not a shock tower relocater. There is nothing wrong w/ that. My 250X handles freakin' awesome now and the front suspension is excellent. Now I need to put a different rear shock on the back. I need to find a shock that has posts on both ends like the front of the 400ex shocks.

haha i was talking about a lowering kit--but now that you mention the shock tower thing I believe that would do much better. Anyways, do you know where I could find a shock tower relocator?

Thanks

godd job on the arms. they look nice. shoulda made them wider though. as for the origanl question in this thred.....I raced all last year on my elka/laegers 400ex front end and had no problems. I race MX. the bigger jump I hit would probly be around 65-70'. my frontend still looks good and stress free.

Well here's what we just did, YES I know I need new shocks, I mainly flat track but these arms & mounts will hold up for MX cuz the guy who did them has done many for Mx'ers. Soooo if ya all want to donate to my shock fund just email me LOL LOL :p :D j/p I'll have to get a better pic off the trailer up close, no it's not tied down that low it REALLY is that low:eek2:
