i have a 06 yfz 450 with the toomey slip on, and k&n air filter no lid. the slip on came with a 175 main jet but it just wasnt right. when you stab the throttle it chokes the quad out. and my choke switch doesnt work, when you pull it out it kills the bike.

i just bought a gytr jet kit for it but im not sure witch jets to put in and what to set the needle as... any suggestions?

we need more info then this. what elevation you at. what the temperature you ride at?? the stab of the throttle is the infamous yfz bog. search it.

Elevation: 568 ft / 173 m
its usually in the hundreds in the summer but its starting to cool down now. its about 80 out side

175 sounds about right. could be plus or minus that. pilot should be roughly 46-50. needle at 3rd or 4th clip. dont forget your fuel screw. i recommend calling trinity...they should give exact numbers.

with the slip on, K&N and no lid, you should be anywhere from a 170 to a 175 main jet... your pilot should be anywhere from a 45 to a 48...

an accelerator pump would likely help your bog when you stab the throttle...

o really. ill have to check that out. what do you think then if i were to go to glamis? take it to a 165 or 170?

haha im sorry i meant toomey. sorry. glamis would use the same jetting. i have a dr d full system with pro flow intake and cam mod. i m at 172 main, 48 pilot, i think 4th clip for glamis. the bog can be fixed with the zip tie mod. search it

if i do the zip tie mod do i need to buy a leak jet to.

i believe people are taking away most of the bog if not all by doin the zip tie only. i def. recommend doin that first before buying a leak jet. its easy and practically costs nothing. i need to do it myself but just need time to do it. where you live in cali?

im still kinda confused on the jets and stuff im gonna go mess with it today. im going to put the 170 main in and leave the 45 piolt in. then try that zip tie thing. where do you live

from the temecula area but living out in orange county right now. and yes glamis is pretty much the only place i ride. possibly this weekend but my new jobs training schedule is all messed up. so we will see. one way to determine if your pilot is too lean is if your bike is popping on deceleration.

i have a friend that lives in temecula. and i was going to move to orange county next semester for school.
well i just took the bike out and put the 170 main in and left the 45 piolt in and it does pop. but i held the throttle wide open in 5th gear and then stoped and checked the spark plug and it wasnt white it was a light brown so doesnt that mean it isnt running hot? i mean the bike it lifting it first second and third like no other so i thought it was running good but im prob wrong, what do you think

i was thinkin about hittin glamis up on halloween,

what is your fuel screw at. try going out with it more but no more than 2.5 turns. if it still pops then go to a 48 pilot and go in a lil bit with the fuel screw. doing plug chops isnt the most accurate way of jetting but is helpful. i heard it takes a long way to actually make the spark plug change color. but it will give you ball park. if you want try a 172 main just to see how it feels. it wont hurt its just taking the time to do it.

ya ill have to buy a 48 pilot. after i ride it for a little while like 20 mins it doesnt want to idle for very long before it shuts it self off
dang this thing is giving me problems

mine wont idle either will just shut it self off idles for a min or 2 then shuts off mines giving me head aches too wish there was a dyno or someone who could test it and see what i em doing wrong
